Watching Ohio State-Wisconsin

No more FCS today, so I'm just watching the crap that's available.
Even watching crap, one can learn something. There's a modern application for old-school skills. Case in point: the Rocker Step. That was originally used in two situations: as part of the long-outlawed Multiple Kick, which had an intermediary catch the snap and hang it in the air for the punter, and as a way to disguise a quick kick executed from a VERY short depth (essentially, the dude punts the snap directly, vice catching the snap, dropping the ball, and kicking it). Now, it's a way to disguise a short-set pass as a run. The dude taking the snap rocks forward and fools the defense into thinking it's a run, then stands up and throws it.
Wow. I prefer the quick kick, but adapting old skills to modern situations is great.

Yes the rocker step was used by Tebow while he was at Florida but needless to say he can't throw like Jones!!!! OSU 4 plays of 39 yds or more!!!!!

I won't be surprised if Ohio State becomes a very dominant program over the next few years. People don't often talk about Ohio when it comes to producing football talent but that State is up there. Normally you have California, Florida, Texas, and Georgia in the top 4 in terms of NFL talent production then the next two are Ohio and Louisiana. Some years it's Ohio and others it's Louisiana. This NFL season, according to the numbers at
http://www.besttickets.com/blog/nfl-player-census-2014/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, it was Ohio.
The other thing is that, like LSU in Louisiana, Ohio State has the advantage of being the only truly "big time" college football program in its State. The only "Big 5" conference team. That means there are more NFL caliber players per "big time" or Big 5 conference in State school coming from Ohio (78/1 = 78 based on the linked document) than there are from California (224/4 = 56), Florida (186/3 = 62), Texas (147/5 = 29.4), or Georgia (91/2 = 45.5).
Urban Meyer may very well be in a better situation in terms of resources and talent availability now than he was when he was at Florida because Ohio State is "it" in Ohio and Ohio produces a lot of good football players. Meanwhile Ohio State has the "brand" to recruit nationally at well. The school has shown it can load up on incredible talent levels before. It's not Miami or USC or Alabama or LSU that holds the record for most players drafted since the NFL went to seven rounds. It's Ohio State with 14 in 2004. Meyer has shown what he can do by doing what he did at Bowling Green, Utah, and Florida. I think the future is bright at Ohio State.

Watching that QB I was wondering why the hell he never started before. There must be a reason but it was really hard to see what it is.

Because they guy he replaced was putting up numbers to be in the Heisman discussion, that's why. JT Barrett had a great year, especially considering he got thrown into the job as a redshirt freshman after Miller got knocked out for the year right before the year started. Ohio State apparently has 3 studs at QB right now for next year. Gotta admire what Urban Myer is doing in Columbus.
