You need to take Idaho State out of that group, is there any thing floating around there about the Vandulls leaving FBS and returning to FCS where they belong?

Idaho State was pretty good last season, but they have been horrible over the last several years.

FCS is where they belong, but I don't think it's sunk in yet. They have to know that they were just a warm body to fill a spot and their time is limited in the Sun Belt.

0-9 against other FBS leagues. It's like I wrote in another thread: It's a conference of programs that really belong in FCS trying to pretend that they're FBS.

Have you looked at the list of teams that make up the current Conference USA lately? It looks like it could be a 1990s IAA conference.

Hey - Portland State has won not only a FBS game this year (something NO Sun Belt team can claim), but a win over a P5 conference

I have posted before in other threads that Conference USA has become another Sun Belt. But they did at least go 5-4 against teams from other FBS leagues this past weekend. And they got 2 wins over teams from Big 5 conferences.

When it comes to the bottom of FBS, the Sun Belt has it pretty much sewn up.

Their two best teams played Purdue and Vanderbilt. Compare that to USC, UGA, West Virginia, NC State, and Kentucky (who ULL lost to in a close one). The two teams that took non-P5 losses were Idaho and Georgia State, who both probably won't win a conference game.

Just looked at the SBCs stats from last week. Damn. 11 teams, 2 wins: AppState beat Howard and S. Alabama beat Gardner-Webb. The rest of them lost to UGA, WV, USC (Trojans), UNC-C(not sure if that's good or not), NCST,

Just interesting.

No kidding. Total horseshit conference.

On a related note:
LAS CRUCES - New Mexico State athletics offered a $4.4 million compensation package over a nine-year period to the Sun Belt Conference in an effort to join the league in all sports.
According to documents acquired by the Sun-News, the financial package included a travel subsidy of $2,387,618 over a seven-year period beginning in 2016-17. Travel costs were among the concerns cited since New Mexico State joined the league for football only prior to the 2014 season.

So NMSU ponies up travel subsidies and still loses out to Coastal?

Hey Foolerton, I think you have another candidate for BSC expansion.

Georgia Southern and it's back-up QB throttles one of the better teams in the MAC, Ark State takes a top 25 SEC team to the brink and two Sun Belt teams woodshed a couple of Southland teams.

Any questions? :tothehand:

I've been watching both SoCon and Sun Blet games on ESPN3. Tell me again about the better media exposure?

I've said it on more than one occasion before, but...
The Sun Belt's media day is held in the Mercedes Benz Superdome, broadcast live on ESPN3 and has 100+ local and national journalist in attendance. The SloCon media day is held at a Days Inn in Spartanburg and covered by the traffic reporter for the Greenville News.

SloCon games on ESPN3 are cable access quality in-house productions where ESPN allows access to a streaming internet platform as a favor. Sun Belt games on ESPN3 are ESPN productions with ESPN staff replay reviewable quality and generates revenue for Sun Belt teams. ESPN3 will broadcast all Sun Belt games that aren't nationally televised while ESPN3 is only showing a limited schedule of SloCon games.

All but two of The Citadel's games are on ESPN3 this year.

So you're saying there's "good" ESPN3, and then there's the non-leet ESPN3?

No, just saying there is ESPN programming on ESPN3 and there are school feeds using ESPN3 for access.

Well, at least the Sun Belt looks more like a non-power FBS league so far this year. ULL, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Troy, and App would all be considered top 10 or 15 teams if they were FCS with what they've done so far. Laugh at that sentence if you want, but contrary to what certain Lehigh posters on AGS suggest that's pretty much what a good non-power FBS league is.

The W/L record against other FBS leagues isn't pretty, but what really matters is how we do in the G5 non-conference games over the next couple of weeks. Idaho's loss to Ohio doesn't look all that bad considering Ohio just beat Marshall (hahahahahaha) and Georgia Southern just whipped one of the top teams in the MAC, so we're not off to a bad start. All in all I think the SBC can finish ahead of at least one of the CUSA and MAC.

As for the TV deal, the Belt's TV deal certainly isn't anything to brag about but at least we don't have to pay people to put us on TV and we have ESPNU games even if they are on weekdays. Honestly, I do hope ESPN3 will continue to show as many FCS games as they are.
