Kinda sad that (likely) going 10-2 with losses to #1 Clemson and to the Sunbelt champions and this is the best we can do. Oh well, at least we're bowling.
And NAU is? I'd prefer Mobile over Montgomery, but either will be okay.dbackjon wrote:ASUG8 wrote:The date works a little better than Godaddy - 12/19 vs. 12/23. I still can't make it.

That is life in the Sun Belt. Or for that matter, most G5 conferences.
Not like Ladd-Peebles is paradise, but I hear the Crampton Bowl is pretty much a shithole.AshevilleApp wrote:And NAU is? I'd prefer Mobile over Montgomery, but either will be okay.dbackjon wrote:

Wait - there are MAC fanboys on AGS?Pwns wrote:Still like the FCS postseason better even though the gap has narrowed with the FCS playoffs more and more resembling the DII playoffs with the regionalization.
But hey, we're playing a MAC team and the MAC fanboys on AGS have assured me of their legitimacy as a league and that we'd never compete like we do if we were playing the MAC. I will feel flattered we are considered worthy to be on the same field as a MAC champion. I just hope we don't get completely embarrassed like we did against Western Michigan. At least we'll have our starting QB this time.
GoLehighTUOwl has a special set of knee pads for the MAC.dbackjon wrote:Wait - there are MAC fanboys on AGS?Pwns wrote:Still like the FCS postseason better even though the gap has narrowed with the FCS playoffs more and more resembling the DII playoffs with the regionalization.

He's one of the main ones, but it's not just him. The PL fans seem to be the biggest advocates of that league and the biggest bashers of the Sun Belt. And plenty of people (including JSO on the Sun Belt thread) have said the fact that Georgia Southern and App have the conference records they do proves how bad the league is.Baldy wrote: GoLehighTUOwl has a special set of knee pads for the MAC.

There is some funny stuff in this thread that could be fun to throw back in the faces of some of the posters after the bowl is done.
My opinion will essentially be the same regardless of what happens, though…that people overestimate the difference in talent between the best of the FCS and the G5.
No way. We'd have been blown out last week by somebody from the MVFC. And by the way, the selection committee screwed the MVFC. Everyone know that they rigged it so the MVFC wouldn't get two two teams in the finals. And of course the MVFC would have, had the committee not screwed the MVFC.....dbackjon wrote:In beautiful Flagstaff.AshevilleApp wrote:

If you were still FCS, you'd be hosting a second round game

Appalachian State will play Ohio University at Cramton Bowl December 19th. It appears Appalachian State fans will be turning out in force!
By Tuesday, the Mountaineers had sold out of it's initial allotment of tickets, about 3,000, and asked for more.
As of Thursday morning, about 1400 general admission tickets are still available, and just over a 1,000 reserved seating tickets are left.
“We know that the stadium will be full, and we’re really excited about that,” says Dawn Hathcock, with the Montgomery Visitors and Convention Bureau. She’s expecting the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl to make a large economic impact on Montgomery. “We’ve got people coming in from Ohio, North Carolina, they’ll stay a little bit longer, they don’t have a quick drive back home, so that’s good for Montgomery."
It's Alabama, what do you think?Grizalltheway wrote:Wow, what a privilege to play in a venue like this! Is there a trailer park on the other side of the wall?![]()

At least pick a decent pic.
It holds 24K, and we'll probably have a pretty decent crowd. Lots of alumni in the ATL that will make the drive.

A December playoff game at Kidd-Brewer couldn't hold a candle to that.

Only you would pull politics into something like this.dbackjon wrote:Grizalltheway wrote:

Yes, but is the "First White House of the Confederacy" only blocks away?

True, KBS sucks, mostly because it has a track and is in a pretty non-picturesque part of the country. I think the Montgomery stadium stands on it's own merits, don't you?Grizalltheway wrote:Oh yeah, it's real stunning from that angle too.Baldy wrote: WeeTAG FAIL.![]()
