Today is the day. July 1, 2016. Coastal Carolina is officially in the Sun Belt conference.
The Chanticleers’ partnership with Under Armour will begin ahead of their debut in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, following years of success in FCS. Since the school launched its football program in 2003, nine players have moved on to the NFL, including Josh Norman and Mike Tolbert. In Men’s Basketball, Coastal Carolina narrowly lost No. 1 seed Virginia in the 2014 Division I Tournament, while its Men’s Soccer team rose to as high as No. 8 in the nation in 2012. Earlier this month, former Coastal Carolina golfer Dustin Johnson earned his first career victory in a major championship when he finished three shots ahead of the field at the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club.
Coastal Carolina athletic director Matt Hogue said Under Armour stepped to the plate with an aggressive offer that was “light years ahead” of any marketing deal the program had received in the past. While Hogue indicated that the company’s brand exposure and recent signings played a significant role, the decision to ultimately came down to the eye-popping deal the Baltimore-based apparel giant placed on the table.

The momentous occasion is amplified by the fact that Coastal Carolina is leaving the Big South Conference for the Sun Belt as of now, July 1st, 2016. So on their last day as a Big South member, the Chants won their first National Championship.

I think Baldy would agree with me, but with your entrance to the SB you'll need a thicker skin around this site.

Gotta admit though, that's a helluva way to go out!

Gotta admit though, that's a helluva way to say "Now that we're going to a shitty conference like the Sunbelt, we don't want to win another NC or at life again, EVER. "

Thick skin? The Sun Belt threads here and on AGS are fun, popcorn-worthy threads.

The Sun Belt is the Big South of the FBS. It's nothing Coastal isn't used to.

Sun Belt is the Big South of the FCS too.
It's why 4 win FCS teams now run that league instantly.

Yea, Baldy gets his ass chapped easily. I take the criticism as a reminder of how much y'all love and miss us.

Interestingly enough when I compare our life time record against Appalachian to our life time record against CCU, I miss ASU a lot more

I miss that we didn't hang around long enough to correct that. A decade is a long time though. Hate that the the rivalry is over.

I seem to remember the team that ran the league instantly was the team that beat Florida in it's last FCS game.

Yep me too . Fu and Asu truly had some of the best games ever. GSu and fu had some of the most important games ever. Unfortunately our Ccu games show just how far the Paladins have fallen. Not a knock on Ccu they are good but we just aren't the team we once were .

It sucks to not be the University of North Carolina.
STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — The Georgia Southern athletics department has been put on two years of probation and the football program will lose two scholarships next season after the NCAA ruled that three football players received improper academic assistance.
The NCAA said in its ruling, which was released Thursday, that an assistant compliance director provided a player with coursework on a flash drive that the player later tried to use as his own. Also, the governing body said an assistant director of student-athlete services submitted extra credit work for two football players.
