You know what I'm talking about. It's called trying to be something you're not.
Yes, you can be classified as FBS in an effort to be in the "top level of college football."
But teams in the Sun Belt are not in the top level of college football. Real caliber wise the league is much more like a strong FCS league than it is like a mainstream FBS league. It's a set of programs that really should be in FCS.
There's not a program in the conference that really belongs in FBS.
Yet, they are in the FBS. INTERESTING
And Davidson is in the FCS

Wake Forest @ Kidd Brewer on 9/23. I didn't think I'd see this happen, and the Rock will be rocking. We got tickets, but not seats so we'll be on the grass watching for vacant seats.
I'm at the Toyota stealership now and there's a Georgia Southern guy in here. I noticed him because of the bag on his head.
and his shirt
I said "I can't be in the same room with you, people will start talking and thinking that dogs and cats are starting to get along." Either he didn't know we have a rivalry or he couldn't hear me through the bag on his head since he didn't really respond.

I saw a guy wearing a Cincinnati Football t-shirt last night at the casino. Figuring that he had knowledge of the football team, I said something like "Gonna be a rough season for the Bearcats, eh?". He said, "Really? I don't follow them that closely."

0-4 for the first time in modern history.
We are the youngest team in FBS with only 8 seniors on the roster, but after the dumpster fire from last year with a team which was loaded with very experienced players, this abortion of a coach has a very thin margin of error.
This goes to show that one bad hire can destroy a program.
I've noted signs that the coach Louisiana Monroe hired away from McNeese State (Matt Viator) may be making progress. Two competitive losses to Memphis (37-29) and Southern Miss (28-17) to open the season then three straight Sun Belt wins.
If he does make a bowl game and hold true to form he'll lose the bowl game. Tied the McNeese record for total wins while he was there and set the school record for consecutive winning seasons at 10. Beat Applachian State at Boone and was 2-0 against Georgia Southern. Had the Southland's biggest win over a I-A/FBS when he beat South Florida 53-21 in 2013. Was 2-0 against Sun Belt teams when he as at McNeese. But 0-5 in post season (playoff) games.

The only SoCon team I know we could beat this year is VMI. We'd be 4-4 in the SoCon at the very best and would be sitting at home in the playoffs. And I'm supposed to have buyer's remorse? Naw.
BTW, Willie Fritz just lost to FIU. Tulane is coming to the realization that just because he won at Georgia Southern doesn't mean he's some coaching gem.
It isn't that hard to win at Georgia Southern. I'm almost sure Mike Ayers, Brent Thompson, Brian Bohannon, or Mark Speir would do significantly better than Summers.

Hindsight is 20/20, but we should have hired Ayers when we had the chance.

"Hindsight is 20/20" implies that the decision seemed like a good one at the time. Summers did not seem like a great hire to anyone except apparently our AD and a few guys on the hiring committee (would like to know who those guys are).
It's like when Auburn hired Gene Chizik when he had a 5-19 record as a head coach.

If I remember correctly, Ayers was a finalist when Fritz was hired. When Summers was hired, Chadwell was the only other finalist.

IMHO you should be shaking down the former CCU coach Chadwell.
