I'm going to the Clemson/Pitt game this Saturday (box seats for the win!!!!!!). I think it's a damn near forgone conclusion that Clemson will win.
I think I'll go with Bama vs Georgia followed by Ohio State vs NW.

This is a tough one. I picked Alabama vs. Georgia even though Alabama will be in the CFP win or lose. In a way that makes it bigger because if Georgia loses that opens a spot whereas if Alabama loses two spots are taken.
Ohio State vs. Northwestern and Oklahoma vs. Texas are also big as Ohio State and Oklahoma have shots to be in with a win but are definitely out with a loss.
Clemson might still be in with a loss. Not as certain of that as Alabama is. But still pretty likely.
But back to the game I picked: If Georgia wins everybody who's not already in the top 4 may be shut out.

And why a four team field doesn't work. When you lose your conference championship game, you should not be eligible for a spot in the "playoffs" when only four get it. I wouldn't have a problem with a loser getting in an 8 or 16 team field.

Conference championships are a play-in? Win and you will be considered for one of the four spots. Lose and you're out?
Makes sense to me.

Oh I agree. I think that if it's going to be a four team field and a team doesn't win its conference it shouldn't be in. But last year Alabama got in without even making it TO its conference championship game.
If Alabama loses this one it'll be the third time it'll have a shot at winning the national championship without winning its conference. And the first two times it didn't even win its division within its conference.
I don't like that at all. But it is what it is.

This Clemson game is kind of dull. Pitt could try and make an effort. The Bama/UGA game was more exciting.
