I-A GOTW - Army Navy
Only one game in I-A this week, but it's one of the most iconic games played. The 14 game win streak in the 2000's by Navy is the longest streak in the series. Thanks to that run, Navy leads the series 60-51-7. Army now has the upper hand.
Who you got?
BTW, I love the uniforms these teams trot out every year.
Army just unveiled theirs yesterday:

I'm rooting for Navy - long term plan is to get my middle guy into Annapolis. But Army is legit good this year and it's not a good Navy team. Army could win this by double digits.

Re: I-A GOTW - Army Navy
A few years ago I told my USNA family members that their streak would be ending soon and Army would have a long string of wins in this game as well as bowl invites - they thought that was really funnyIvytalk wrote:I agree. Honest question (okay maybe trying to troll 93 a little): why don't the Marines have a service academy? They've been around as long, if not longer, than the other branches.

You Army guys have to concede that Navy has better flyovers.

US Coast Guard: standalone uniformed service branch, administered by Department of Homeland Security, and by charter, can be moved under the Department of Navy (as was done in WWI and WWII)
Both have anchors, to represent maritime service. USMC also has eagle and globe, because we do everything everywhere. Air, land, sea.
PS:. You should have posted the official seal with "Dept of the Navy" on it. That one always confuses low info Army types.

Re: I-A GOTW - Army Navy
Yeah, the Army ones are better, but the Navy ones aren't terrible. Reading the Twitter comments, you'd think that they looked like Oregon or something. People really do have way too much time on their hands, and way too little worry in life, if they're getting worked up over what service academies are wearing in a football game:ASUG8 wrote:Navy uniform reveal. Re: I-A GOTW - Army Navy
Sorry, I missed this one. The USNA is a commissioning source for a small percentage of Marine Officers. About 10% of my class at TBS were Marine-option USNA grads. They generally were lower performing than 2nd Lts from Marine OCS. We had to help them get through the intense six-month school, as they were ill-prepared for Marine duty at first. Frankly, they were in poor physical shape and mentally soft, but we got them right by the end. We wouldn't send them out to lead Marines as the shitbirds they arrived.Grizalltheway wrote:Honest question (okay maybe trying to troll 93 a little): why don't the Marines have a service academy? Interesting historical note: the Marine Corps had its own football program run out of Quantico for decades, finally ending the program in 1972. They played and beat a few good D1 programs. Butler Stadium still exists at mainside MCB Quantico:
