Last college game of the season is pretty much the only reason I'll tune in. And if it's a boring game I'm out.

Does this one actually count as a "college" game? Seems like two pro teams going at it.

I'm sure I'll watch the first half after bowling.

I'll watch, but to be honest, it does feel like a lesser version of the NFL playoffs that I just watched this past weekend. And the redundancy of the same teams being in it is starting to lessen the interest. I know it's not their fault, if other teams were worthy other than these two then they would be there, but it still makes for a less than exciting buildup to this game.

Tickets to the College Football Playoff national championship battle between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers remained historically cheap on Monday with just hours to go until kickoff – and thousands of seats were still available.

Why would you schedule a college football championship game in San Francisco?

If this game were held in Jerry's World or the Superdome or in the House that Arthur built, it would have been an easy sellout.

Wishful thinking for the PAC12 I guess.

It worked out great last time when the game was hosted in ATL, which is nearly equidistant for both fan bases. Playing football in California for two ECB teams doesn't make much sense, but I understand these locations are secured years in advance.

Tough doo doo. Poor 'Bama has to travel to the Pacific Time Zone, and play outside no less, on a grass field. Considering that 'Bama hasn't played any further than Missouri or Texas A&M in the past 20 years you would think the fanbase would have travel money galore stored up to swing a one time trip to California. :coffee:

My point is that it's not surprising that ticket prices are dropping vs. last year when people have to factor in travel costs, etc.

Yeah, this is just piss poor planning and management. There should be several sites that can host, depending on the teams that make it. It makes 0 sense for 2 Southern teams to fly to CA for a game when there are plenty of stadiums available. :ohno:

How would that happen, pray tell? The semis were just a little more than a week ago. Super Bowls are somehow done with picking the sites years in advance, what's so hard for southern fanbases that they can't manage to get to another spot in the US? There are plenty of flights to CA every day. And trains. And roads. Again, just sounds like a lot of griping from fanbases, especially 'Bama's fanbase, that because of their yearly cushy schedules, never has to travel, so apparently is mystified how this is done by the rest of the country. :coffee:

I agree with GF, but let's be honest: when was the last time two Pacific time zone teams played in the FBS/I-A Championship or finished 1,2 in the AP rankings?

There's really no practical reason to have the game north of Charlotte or west of Dallas. Frankly, they should just do a three year rotation between Atlanta, New Orleans, and Dallas. If the westies are going to cry, maybe work in Phoenix once every 10 years if USC or Oregon get good again.

I picked Alabama even though it's 28-16 Clemson right now because Clemson can't stop Alabama's running game. That's ridiculous because their whole defensive line is made up of guys that are going to be high NFL draft picks. But they can't.

Nevertheless, I am pulling for Clemson so I hope I'm wrong. Also I am happy to see Etienne doing well. He's from Jennings, Louisiana, which is in my home town neck of the woods. In fact I lived in Jennings a couple of years and was Sports Editor of the Jennings Daily News when the Jennings Bulldogs made it to the State high school AAA championship game.

Etienne was not all that highly recruited and ended up at Clemson. Glad to see him doing well.

Bama is on the brink of being exposed here.
