Sac State makes SportsCenter

Post by SuperHornet »

The #23 Sacramento State Hornets (8-1, 0-0 WAC) got back to their winning ways in a BIG way by making SportsCenter tonight. They put up the point-equivalent of THREE TOUCHDOWNS as they took out Houston Baptist (2-8, 0-0 Southland) 21-4 in seven innings. Sophomore RF Cesar Valero absolutely went OFF, going 5-5 with 3 HR (in the first three innings, no less), along with a single and a triple, on the way to knocking in 10 runs by himself. The Hornets put up double digits in the fourth and didn't fail to score until the sixth. Three other Hornets contributed four doubles.

These two teams will face off in a twin bill tomorrow at 1300 and 1600 at John Smith Field in Sacramento, and will close out the four-game set on Sunday at 1100. The Hornets will face Moraga-St. Mary's on Tuesday before opening the WAC season against Dixie State in a three-game set next weekend.

Awesome!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
