They're also considering others. Some are calling this "shortsighted," but I'm not so sure. He's also been linked to every NFL team that is even close to having an opening, yet there have been no official takers so far for Belicheat. That might be why he's taking a gander at colleges, despite the fact that he has no collegiate experience. There are some aspects of coaching college that are way different from coaching in the NFL, and not everyone can make the adjustment. The same, of course, is also true in the other direction, as Urban Meyer and Lou Holtz found out the hard way....

Word today was that he was about to sign, though I never saw anything official. Multiple sources DID say it was about to happen, though.

The good part of this is that I don't have to worry about him coaching my Cowboys....

He did sign up for the job I still think he should have stayed in Foxboro he screwed up with Mac Jones by assigning Matt Patricia&Joe Judge as his assistants on offense. If he had hired a offensive mind Jones would still be in New England.

Portland State is still trying to recover from the Jerry Glanville years. I really can't recall the last former NFL coach that had any real success going back to college football. Maybe Herm Edwards, but I don't think his time at Arizona State really set them up for success.

I can name two in particular, one of whom just went back to the NFL and the other who may be under consideration for a trip back to a former college:

Jim Harbaugh and former UOP free safety and defensive coordinator Pete Carroll....

Glanville has fallen on hard times. He was 3-8, 4-7, 2-9 at Portland State. After that, he was out of football for about ten years, then DC for the 2018 Hamilton Tiger-Cats (8-10), DC for the 2020 Tampa Bay Vipers (XFL) (1-4), HC of the 2020-2021 TSL Conquerors (The Spring League) (Fall 2020: 1-2, Spring 2021: 4-2), HC of the 2022 Alabama Airborne (Major League Football) (0-0: the league shut down before starting), and DC for the 2024 Northwestern OK State Rangers (2-9, 2-9 NCAA D-II Great American Conference; yes, per the conference site, every NW OK State game was in-conference).
