Sounds pretty good for him. Hometown and he gets to keep doing what he loves while getting his education. Can't hate a guy for that.
From Duke point guard to Syracuse quarterback. That's the unprecedented career path that Greg Paulus has decided to travel.

Paulus announced Thursday morning that he would return to his hometown of Syracuse to play football after four years of basketball with the Blue Devils. He said he called new Orange coach Doug Marrone on Thursday morning to notify him of his decision.

Because Paulus did not redshirt and he completed his degree at Duke in four years, he can go to graduate school elsewhere and compete right away in football if he is granted a waiver. Paulus said he plans to drive back to Syracuse in the coming days to deal with the necessary paperwork.

"I know not many people have done this, and having that type of opportunity and challenge is something that excites me and motivates me," Paulus said in a conference call with reporters. "It will keep me in the gym longer and keep me on the field longer."

I think this is a better choice for Paulus than the rumored move to Michigan.

Michigan would expect immediate results and the pressure would have been intense. Syracuse sucked last year and really hasn't been good in a few years. A 6-6 season at Syracuse would be a tremendous success story, a 6-6 season at Michigan would be completely unacceptable.

Besides that, as mentioned above, Syracuse is his home town.

With Syracuse being in rebuilding mode, if he can salvage some wins and get the team to a Bowl game, I knwo I know every team gets a bowl game but a bowl game with some meaning, he will be worshiped.

He won't be competing. He is 10 times better than anyone they currently have

Paulus was named the starting QB for the Cuse.
Syracuse is going all in on the Greg Paulus experiment.

Orange head coach Doug Marrone officially named the former Duke basketball player as his starting quarterback on Monday night, even though Paulus has not played football in four years and has never played a collegiate snap.

The "Cuse has had people bailing out of the program...now they enter the season with a totally inexperienced (at this level) QB...

Yea, I'll be placing my money on who ever plays the Orangemen...

I'm hoping for a perfect upstate NY Storm to happen......which I think is brewing right now....

Albany beats Maine on September 19th.
Maine beats Syracuse on September 26th!

Syracuse is forced to remove all advertisements from the state of NY which say "NY's Team".

That is something I'd love to see.
