Do any other posters here follow their school's volleyball program?

And if so, what are your thoughts on your team for the upcoming season?

VB is my second favorite sport to watch (behind football, of course), and I try to make it to as many UNI volleyball games as my work schedule allows.

I've followed CCU's since I was a student. Their "volleyball stretch" is a really nice thing to see :D

We are pre-season 2nd behind traditional power Liberty.

A little bit. Albany has a good women's team for being the northeast. They have won the AEast and made a trips to the NCAA in the last couple years. I think UAalumn72 follows the team more closely than I do.

Yes, we've been America East champions four of the last five years, winning a first-round game in 2007.

We lost our coach to Dayton before the 2008 season, and a couple of players transferred after the season (one to follow him) but only lost a couple of other women to graduation, so it could be another great year.

Playing tournaments at Michigan State, Florida State, Virginia, and Penn this year.

I don't follow it that closely, but it's one of the few places my wife lets me go where there are 20-year-old women with really long legs and really short pants.

I sometimes go to matches intending on admiring those aforementioned long legs and short shorts.
But I always end up getting distracted by the awesome athleticism and the game itself.
haha

This thread is kind of worthless without pictures of your women's volleyball team in short shorts.

I don't really follow Towson's volleyball team, they usuually are pretty good. I follow the gymnastics team in the winter. I prefer the shorties over the tallies.

Our gals have won the SLC 3 of the last 4 years and were in the NCAA's 2 of those years. We have a conference championship which sets the auto-bid for the NCAA's and we didn't win it this year after the run they had, so no NCAA tourny. It went to someone else.

We lost 3 seniors but I think we will have another shot at the title this year. I don't really follow the volleyball as I am too involved in the football team at the time but we do have a decent fan base that atttends the games.

Some of the OOC teams we are slated to play:
  • Mississippi
    Missouri
    BYU
    SMU
    Syracuse
    Texas A & M
    Houston
    Baylor

Delaware had a very good volleyball team last year, but something happened causing a number of players to quit the team. The volleyball team's loss, however is the women's basketball team's gain as the 2007 national High School player of the year, Elena Delle Donne, will be leaving the vollyball team to join the Hen's ladies hoop squad for the 2009/2010 season. Easily the most highly touted (out of HS) basketball player, men's or women's, to ever play in the CAA.

Before I got to Sac, I was redshirting at UOP (the year they dumped the football program) and I was head-over-heels in love with a UOP VBer. I still love the Tiger VB program.

Right now, Sac is better than UOP. Never thought that would happen. I root for Sac to win the Sky as they usually do, to the regret of those who would love to cr@p us out. But my first VB love is UOP.

Ahem! Didn't we win the VB Big Sky tournament last year? And we're slated to win again this year, according to the coaches. Portland State's on a roll. Unless you know something I don't, Sac State's moving into some down years. And Albany, didn't we beat you last year? Or was that Binghamton? Last year was something: WVB to the NCAAs, WBB to WNIT, and MBB to the NCAAs. It's going to be hard to repeat.

We have that to live up to also... 2008/09 Wsoccer, Football, Baseball & Softball all went to NCAA's. I know TXST has a bad rep in FCS circles but I think the admin we currently have are committed to changing that perspective and we are finally starting to get the $$$, the coaches and the athletes to help turn it around.

McNeese who?????

(ok, so our men's Basketball needs an enema but that may change with the new coaching staff)

Don't know where the Griz girls are picked to finish but they usually look pretty good getting wherever they are going.

Now I know why Montana has a mediocre volleyball team - their fans only care about their legs.
