Blount to be reinstated?

Just announced on Portland's radio station, 95.5 The Game, a press conference is scheduled for 10 am tomorrow (Friday) in Eugene where Ducks head coach Chip Kelly supposedly will lay out some terms and conditions for LeGarrett Blount for possible reinstatement. Blount has not played since he punched a Boise State player and had to be forcibly removed from the field.
As soon as it is listed on Oregon live (
www.oregonlive.com) I will post a link. I am not saying anything.

Players have gotten off with limited suspensions for far worse infractions than just one punch before.
Of course, on the other hand, players have been kicked off teams for actions that didn't hurt anyone (other than possibly themselves) before too.

Just announced on Softy, live feed on Comcast-Portland of a Seattle based sports broadcaster, indications are that Blount could be reinstated by the Washington game 10-24.

His actions (after the punch) were uncalled for, however I think this falls under the 'boys will be boys' rule. I hope he is reinstated.

Not really all that crazy...
Chip Kelly and Oregon have set up some "academic and behavioral ladders" that Blount must meet before he can be reinstated. This reinstatement, if it happens, will not be until the Stanford game 11-7 at the earliest. There is still the possibility that, if Blount does not meet these expectations, he will not be reinstated until later in the year, if ever. Kelly also said that this is not in response to Boise's actions or non actions saying "Peterson runs his program and I run mine". The decision for Blount to be reinstated will not be Kelly on his own, but will go through the chain of command at Oregon. Blount is not reinstated at this time, the earliest he may be able to come back is 11-7 against Stanford, and there is still a chance he may never play at Oregon again, but there are guidelines in place to possibly (emphasize possibly) bring Blount back.
If anyone wants to follow this, go to oregonlive.com, click on sports, and click on Ducks and it should be there.

I think it's fair. The guy threw the punch and embarrassed himself and the university but it shouldn't ruin the rest of his life. As was said earlier, far worse has happened before with less consequences. In the beginning I was all for him being suspended for the year, but I think this is fair.

You must be a very emotional person... Its only been a few weeks and you've already had a change of heart. huh? One day you want the guy to lose his dream of playing FB & end up working at the Safeway with you, & now you think its 'fair' for him to be reinstated? You're a joke...

Wow speaking of emotional....Of course I've had a change of heart, especially seeing as how he responded. And if you look back instead of spouting off, I was all for him keeping his scholarship (which they let him do, and he had the option of transferring)....Everything is based on emotions, the year-long suspension was reflective of emotion at the time, the hit he put on the guy was reflective of his emotion. Your little name-calling fit there at the end was emotion as well.
btw I am not sure where the Safeway thing came from but Safeway treats its employees quite well from what I hear so that was a weak attempt.

I thought that suspending him for the year, and ending his college carrer was a bit draconian considering what he did (he hit a jackass that deserved it and threw a tantrum afterwards). I think reinstating him for the last few games is reasonable.

I totally agree on reinstating him, especially since nothing happened to the jackass that was hit.

I don't know if this was true or not, I also heard that the BSU fans was shouting racial slurs at him and if true, that wasn't cool either. The blame can go full circle on this one.

Right, and I'm the one that takes things personally.

I guess this little tidbit "I don't know if this was true or not", is inconsequential.

Well, after you play the vastly overused "race" card, pretty much everything after that is roundly ignored.
