NAU Men's XCountry ranked #5 in NCAA

Post by dbackjon »

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After debuting at number five in the preseason U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, the Northern Arizona men’s cross country team stayed in the same spot as the week one national polls came out Tuesday afternoon.

Ahead of the Lumberjacks in the national rankings is Oregon at the top spot followed by Oklahoma State, Stanford and Wisconsin.

The women’s team also debuted in the same position in the week one polls, at number 16.

In the regional rankings that came out Monday afternoon, the women maintained the top spot in the Mountain Region followed by Colorado, New Mexico, BYU and Texas Tech. The men’s squad also held onto their number two ranking in the region behind Colorado.

This weekend, the Lumberjacks are scheduled to take part in two meets. Half of the team will be heading down to Tempe to take part in the ASU Invitational on Friday, as the other half heads to Stillwater, Okla., to take part in the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State on Saturday.
