The excite-o-meter is showing no activity. I'm tapping it. Nope, still nothing!

Wait...what's that about black folks?GannonFan wrote:I don't mind the CSC folks, they're pretty nice. Of course, it's easy now to police the stadium because of so few people coming through the turnstiles. But truth be told, I think there was something to the idea that UD ticket holders were taken aback when they replaced the mostly old and mostly white ticket takers and ushers with the mostly black CSC folks. We didn't play DSU for all those years and it wasn't just because we'd kick their butts every time we'd play them.93henfan wrote:
Thanks for clarification. I did see the comment on GoHens, I think after the opener, but I'm not going to bother searching and linking it.
CSC was a bad idea from the get go. Those guys are used to doing Eagles games and concerts. That's a whole different demographic than Delaware football and they didn't scale down accordingly for awhile. I know Kevin Tresolini did write about the trumpet incident, which led to some meeting between CSC and UD. I think they lightened up a little after that.

Even the eternal apologists and/or optimists turned on Brock this afternoon on GoHens. If the fanbase and posters hadn't left years ago, it would have been pure ugliness. Now it's just a few dozen of us left who have accepted the demise of the program as it once was and post about our continued quiet sadness. It's like post-divorce but staying friendly with the ex, as opposed to those who divorce with no children or alimony and can make a clean break. I envy those alums from out of state or who don't care about Delaware football who can just rinse the memories and start rooting for Penn State, Maryland, Syracuse, Rutgers, VA Tech etc in their state.Ivytalk wrote:Gawdamm! 20-0? Re: 93henfan Excite-o-meter Showing Activity
There is an Ex-band member that has been in attendances for years. He would play various short tunes on the trumpet when good things would happen on the field. He ALWAYS followed the rules about not playing when a play is in progress. Wears a chicken for a hat - thus the "pecker head" name. For some reason one CSC attendant decided that the use of the trumpet was not allowed in the stadium, cow bells are, and the bang sticks were actually given to the students - but no trumpet. He would just watch from the first row where pecker head was sitting - waiting for him to play the trumpet. When the attendant would run up into the stands to try to take the trumpet away, pecker head would hand it off and down the row it would go away from the attendant. He was not able to catch the trumpet for about four games. Pretty funny to watch. Well finally he did catch him and he brought a cop with him. They walked pecker head out of the stadium, which made the group that sat with him and others that I bet he did not even know, walk out with him. There were 20-30 people in total. When the got under the stands - something happened ( I really don't know) that resulted in one of the elderly men getting into a pushing contest with the attendant. This whole thing got way out of hand, but it shows the heavy handed approach that was being used to "suck the fun" out of stadium experience.Ibanez wrote:What is the trumpet incident?
Pecker Head is back and he is still playing the trumpet as he did before. CSC has stopped hassling him. I don't think that same attendant is around any more. CSC is much friendlier now.

Oh and in keeping with the excite - o - meter. URI has got to be the best team in the CAA based on how they played this week. Things are really not that bad in Hen Land

Well after 46 years - I think this year is it. Decision still has to be finalized but it looks as though it'll be our last as UD season ticket holders. Program ain't the same anymore, atmosphere ain't the same anymore. Apathy abounds. We're going to see Temple this Saturday night and the kids are already more excited about that.93henfan wrote:Even the eternal apologists and/or optimists turned on Brock this afternoon on GoHens. Brock couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.

Sorry to hear it. I know your family has a much bigger investment than I did with my three season tix for six seasons.bluehenbillk wrote:Well after 46 years - I think this year is it. I enjoyed some excellent games and had no problem traveling to games as far away as Texas and Massachusetts.
Alas, it seemed to become a chore to simply attend games in Newark with the mandatory donations, loss of fanbase, loss of games, but most importantly, lack of vision for the program. Give me something, anything, to let me know that the school cares about football even half as much as I do, and I stay to see how it goes. But they seem content to let it all die.

Sucks to hear about one of the flagship programs in FCS getting to this point.

Re: 93henfan Excite-o-meter Showing Activity
Already have talked to BHBK and the Dad to see if we just dump the tickets we have (16 I think) and put together a hodge-podge of games in and around the area - Penn State, Navy, Army, Temple, Rutgers, etc. Still will run into the problem of kids sports getting in the way of some games, and the women in the family probably won't attend a lot of those games, but it has to be better and cheaper than being subjegated to the crap that is UD football now.93henfan wrote:Sorry to hear it. I blame the "all-star" chain crew at the 2010 title game that botched that 4th down stop late in the game.93henfan wrote:I blame Armanti Edwards.AshevilleApp wrote:Sucks to hear about one of the flagship programs in FCS getting to this point.

Them too. BHBK said he didn't remember it one time I mentioned it, but I distinctly remember walking up the steps out of Pizza Hut Palace (or whatever it's called) in Frisco after we were screwed out of that championship and just looking at BHBK at the concessions landing and shaking my head. Didn't say a word. Just in disbelief at the collapse by the team and the refs.GannonFan wrote:I blame the "all-star" chain crew at the 2010 title game that botched that 4th down stop late in the game.93henfan wrote:

Re: 93henfan Excite-o-meter Showing Activity
I was bummed I couldn't make that trip (I was in Chatty in '07 when BHBK couldn't make that one) and it was right about when the clock hit zero and my then 7 year old eldest son was bawling on the couch next to me that I was glad I wasn't in Frisco. When even replay can't fix what went wrong you knew it was bad. But you knew it was going to end that way when they dominated 3 quarters and only had 19 points - just wasn't enough.93henfan wrote:Them too.
