Most recently, it was Andre Nation in basketball, but the most famous one was Justin Thorpe's 6th or 7th year of eligibility. He played and helped the Dukes to a win and then promptly was out again for the rest of the year.

As for the Richmond receivers, they are definitely good. I think some of the stats are based on last weekend's performance. Before that, the stats were closer, plus Dedmon only played a half last week. Brown and Diggs make things easier for each other. The Tribe has a decent dropoff at WR after Dedmon.

Definitely can see your point though, since you watched Brown go 7 for over 200 last week and Diggs go 6 for 128. If Dedmon gains 200 this week, I will revisit the topic. Of course, if Dedmon has 200, the Tribe probably will be behind. I would rather see Anderson run for 200. The bigger question for the weekend is will JMU's offense still be fantastic? Given all their playmakers, it seems possible. Somehow, I think the Tribe will block another kick and that will be the difference.
JMU does have 1 good cover corner (thats it), Taylor Reynolds, (2nd team All CAA last yr, pre season all CAA this season). If a team, like UR, has 2 studs at WR, along with a good OL & passing QB, JMU is screwed, like obviously were last Sat, because Reynolds can't cover both. Unfortunately JMU's true fr corner sensation from last season Jimmy Moreland was kicked off the team in the offseason...

Regardless, IF a banged up Dedmon even plays and has over 100 I'd be surprised. If Dedmon goes for over 200 this week, W&M will probably have 40+, it won't be close, and I'll throw in the towel on the season..
Well, Dedmon had 3 catches for 20 yds, and 4 carries for 22, but I might throw in the towel anyway. JMU defense "only" gave up 469, but listening to the game (wasn't able to watch), man it sure sounded bad. And the special teams was more like special ed. Big thread on the JMU board now calling for the de coordinator and special teams coach to be fired..

The good news is:
-the offense only dropped down a notch without Vad Lee & with the new QB. Schor 17-27 for 227, 1 TD, 1 INT, 15 carries for 64 yards & a TD in his 1st start against a good defense is pretty good. And he should be better 2nd start, esp after a bye week. Only a Soph, he might be the future..
-a bye week followed by UD. UD offense 102 yds offense vs TU, 14 yds passing. I think the JMU defense might be able to slow them down..

9-2/6-2, 8-3, or 7-4 it doesn't matter. Playoffs, no top 8 seed/bye, which means will be playing on Thanksgiving weekend. But with this defense and special teams, I can't see JMU getting past the 2nd round/round of 16..

W&M pretty much punched their playoff ticket, but will have to win out to get to 9-2/7-1 & get a top 8 seed. Difficult with @ Elon, TU and @ UR left..

The VA trio of UR/W&M/JMU will be 3 of the 3-4 CAA playoff teams, but looks like UR will be the only one getting a seed/bye..

So if W&M wins out and finishes 9-2 with a seven game winning streak they won't be seed-worthy?

W&M would absolutely get a seed if they won out, which wouldn't surprise me. But I would bet finishing 2-1. TU is no gimme, and obviously UR will be favored.

Being favored can be the Kiss of Death in the CAA this year.

Interestingly enough, Massey has Richmond an underdog in two of their remaining three games. And, they have played only one team with a record above .400. Playing at New Hampshire is never easy and they follow that up with a road game at Nova and then finish with W&M.

JMU should win out even without Vad. I still say they were a legit NC contender with him despite the defense.

Nah, can't be that bad on defense and come anywhere close to the national championship. But Vad was a great player.
