BIG SOUTH PICK'EM (11/14)

Post by BigSouthJunkie »

Somewhat a big week in the Big South, a couple things at stake here. Let's discuss.

- CSU could clinch full ownership of the Big South title with a win over Liberty
- Liberty could see themselves hanging from a thread but still in the playoff race with a win over CSU
- Coastal could see themselves suddenly sitting on the bubble with a loss to talented upstart Kennesaw State
- PC, GW, and Monmouth with chances to get back in the W column
- Wins by Liberty and Kennesaw set up a huge bubble bursting game in Lynchburg next Thursday

With all that being said, here are my predictions..

Presbyterian @ Monmouth - Monmouth gets the job done up in NJ, against a stout defense. Hawks hold on 14-10.

ETSU @ Gardner-Webb - GWU gets back on the right side of the win column, win takes them to 4-6 and a chance to salvage the season after a rough stretch and finish at 5-6. Runnin' Bulldogs steamroll 42-7.

Liberty @ Charleston Southern - A lot at stake for Liberty, but lets just be honest. CSU had chances to slip up and under-perform twice; looking forward to Coastal against Gardner-Webb; and coming down off the Coastal win going against Kennesaw State. In both instances, they handled business, and at homecoming in Charleston, I see no difference. Bucs roll 35-14.

Kennesaw State @ Coastal Carolina - This may turn out to be the most interesting game in the Big South this week. Coastal has been known to under-perform against teams like this, but this Kennesaw team can really surprise you and knock you in the jaw before you see it coming. I actually see this being close early, then Coastal will remember what is at stake and handle the job late. Chants prevail 28-21.

Monmouth
G-W
Liberty- Liberty has a small psychological edge over the Bucs with two things in mind: 1) Liberty is 19-3 against CSU in the 22 year history of their rivalry. CSU has had some very good teams (and some very bad ones) over th eyears but somehow outside of a couple occasions (including last year), the Flames have somehow managed to come out on top 2) Liberty is 12-1 in the month of November. The Flames have always managed to "finish well". There is some strange magic in play when the number of the month turns to 11. I think Liberty manages to send CSU off to Tuscaloosa on a losing note 31-27
CCU- Chants win and set the stage for that big national TV game next Thursday night
