Saw this on FB. So, they're planning to movie Chauncy again? Looks good, I saw them say capacity will meet requirements but as of now, there's no number.SENOREIDA wrote:

Lipstick on a pig, that teal color is horrible. Just more empty seats. Good luck filling them.

We'll have no problem. Could be worse...could be VMI.kendradad wrote:Lipstick on a pig, that teal color is horrible. Just more empty seats. Good luck filling them.

Re: Brooks Stadium Expansion
VMI doesn't claim to be FBS ready. You guys couldn't fill Brooks Stadium with a top 15 team for a playoff game. And you are going to fill it for a team, that if you ever win a conference championship (will never happen), gets you a trip to The Toilet Bowl ? Laughable.Ibanez wrote:We'll have no problem. Re: Brooks Stadium Expansion
CCU is getting VMI ready. Still, a VMI fan talking shit about a team that routinely stopped it's ass is laughable. We aren't perfect but we will get there.kendradad wrote:VMI doesn't claim to be FBS ready. You guys couldn't fill Brooks Stadium with a top 15 team for a playoff game. Looks good except for way too much teal, esp the field.

The teal seats in the picture is not going to be the actual color they just indicate new seating. Gray seats are existing seats. It is just to get a perspective of new construction.BDKJMU wrote:Looks good except for way too much teal, esp the field.
Don't believe the statue will be moved. Posters on Coastal Fans believe it is just their for scale reference. Chauncey already has mount by the Sports Complex entrance and moving him to the intersection of 544 and University Blvd would just be asking for him to get creamed by a car.Ibanez wrote:Saw this on FB. That's what I figured. I saw the statue when I was up there for the Citadel game. The empty eyes freak me out.SENOREIDA wrote:The teal seats in the picture is not going to be the actual color they just indicate new seating. Gray seats are existing seats. Re: Brooks Stadium Expansion
The new seats will be better off staying home and watching onTV. They look that far from the field

Should use multi colored seats. That will help disguise, at least on TV, all the empty seats you'll have..SENOREIDA wrote:The teal seats in the picture is not going to be the actual color they just indicate new seating. Good Luck in FBS

I'm confident that we'll get there.BDKJMU wrote:Should use multi colored seats. I think CCU colors are awesome! I'm from SC and those colors fit the Myrtle Beach area perfectly. The mascot? Meh. I think something aquatic like a shark or hurricanes would be better.
That said....can we get some more CCU vs VMI trash talk?? Thats some good stuff.

Re: Brooks Stadium Expansion
To the earlier poster, how many FCS schools sell out the Thanksgiving weekend playoff game? I found that to be a sour grapesy sounding comment.
Hell, when Delaware was averaging 20k+ a season in the 200X's we never sold out that playoff game. Even for the much hyped first ever DSU in state matchup we sold under 20k tickets.

Re: Brooks Stadium Expansion
I think the thing that could help CCU attendance is who the opponent could be. Lots of teams enjoy taking away games that are fun trips for their players. And...SC is in the hot bed of recruiting in the South....but....SEC and ACC teams rarely will do a home-home with big name schools outside the South, because they dont wanna lose a home game. So schools like, say, Colorado or Kansas or Indiana won't play USC/Clemson because USC/CU won't do a home/home deal.
But Coastal would. Just using them as an example...but say Indiana wanted to come for their kids to get a trip to the coast, and get some Southern exposure for recruiting (on Friday nights, the coaches at away games hit the regional HS games to meet with players and recruit). A Big10 or Big12 team visiting Conway? Won't happen in the next 2 or 3 years. But in 5? Maybe. I'd go see it if CSU was playing far away.
And finally....they could host a bowl game. The ban is gone in SC. Citadel wants to do it. Myrtle Beach would be a perfect place for a bowl game. In a few years either Charleston or MB will have a bowl game.

Re: Brooks Stadium Expansion
Our colors are silly and our mascot is a joke. I get being creative, but personally I think it's stupid. There was a vote, just before football started, to change the mascot and it failed, 51%-49% against changing.bucs90 wrote:I think CCU colors are awesome! I love the mascot, it is unique and to me that is important. It catches the eye and intrigues people to learn more about the school. It did that to me because of a wiki article, two weeks later my college admissions councilor suggested the school and I had to give it a look. I mean Tigers, Sharks, and Pirates are overplayed IMO. And as far as colors go, what is more beachy then teal and bronze. The colors embrace the local community.Ibanez wrote:Our colors are silly and our mascot is a joke. I grew up 13 miles from ocean, I never said I was from the beach or that Charleston is a beach town. Conway doesn't have a beach either (not counting the river banks. Conway has colonial history, we couldn't have been the Patriots or something like that? The Chanticleer has to use his cunning and wit to save his life b/c his arrogance got him in a life & death situation to begin with.SENOREIDA wrote:I love the mascot, it is unique and to me that is important. It isn't an unpopular opinion, as I said, in 2001, there were a lot of people against it.
