Sam Houston had to wait until the end of regular season to get their first real test… and they passed it with an A+++ grade. The Mocs also had a surprisingly impressive win over Weber last week, so both teams seem to have good momentum. That being said, I just think the Bearkats are the better team. Their lack of schedule strength obviously didn't affect them against UCA, either, so I'd be surprised if they went down against Chattanooga.
Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:
After watching Chattanooga against Alabama and watching some of Sam Houston State against McNeese I would give Chattanooga the edge on anything having to do with defense including the secondary. So I would have "Chattanooga" there instead of push.
Also I don't think Sam Houston State's offensive line is real good at run blocking. Hard to tell with Chattanooga because when I watched them they were playing Alabama.

UTC is probably a little better at run blocking, but SHSU has only given up 8 sacks in 461 dropbacks. The numbers favored SHSU somewhat, while SOS favors Chattanooga somewhat, so that's why it's a push.
Pretty much what I thought about Sam Houston. Explosive passing game and nothing else. No running game. No defense. I was flipping in and out so I don't know exactly how they did it but they ended up winning in spite of getting outgained 531 to 421 in total yards. Also got out rushed by 236 to 48.
I'm sure if you watched you noticed that Sam Houston State's starter at QB got hurt late in the game. If it's bad enough to hamper him going forward they are probably in serious trouble.
Also the play on which he got hurt reflects the "what if" thing. If Chattanooga would've recovered that fumble at that point they'd have had time and time outs to use their running game. Instead Sam Houston State got a few more plays and a punt to put Chattanooga into a position where they had to be one dimensional (passing) on their last drive.

the most one dimensional 12-0 team in FCS history.

Death, Taxes, and JSO in Nov/Dec hating on the Kats. In the most passive aggressive way possible.
