I wouldn't bet on it. Their program is leaps above any other in this classification.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Is this the final one of the dynasty?

You could be right, but they do lose Klieman & 22 seniors.93henfan wrote:I wouldn't bet on it. Their program is leaps above any other in this classification.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Is this the final one of the dynasty?

That is quite a hit. We'll see. They still have five recruiting classes full of three star recruits to plug in.Mvemjsunpx wrote:You could be right, but they do lose Klieman & 22 seniors.93henfan wrote:

24 seniors and maybe 1 junior to a NCAA suspension. Might be a rebuilding year next year, but there is a lot of talent coming back. Only thing is EWU has some great looking under-class-men as well.93henfan wrote:That is quite a hit. We'll see. NDSU loses 4 coaches in this transition...
That didn't happen when Craig Bohl left

Who cares? When you blow every previous FCS record out of the water and make a mockery of decades of history in a subdivision, you can do and say whatever the fuck you want.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Accurate.Ibanez wrote:Prediction:

I think they were hurt more by the #2 seed Big Sky co-champ Weeber losing to Maine than this one today though.

Maine was just another CAA speedbump.

You act like the committee gets it right most of the time. They didn't in 2010, they didn't in 2018.93henfan wrote:Which the Big Sky co-champ and tournament #2 seed couldn't clear.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote: Project much?

Re: NDSU vs. EWU National Championship Game Thread
Weber was not a true number 2, and Maine was yet another CAA speedbump for the real Big Sky champ. This isn't rocket science.

Btw, a CAA team is the only one to beat NDSU in the playoffs in how many years?

Re: NDSU vs. EWU National Championship Game Thread
I think NDSU looked like the better team as expected but EWU looked good enough to have a chance to win IF they minimized mistakes. They didn't do that. I think they got themselves behind the 8 ball early in the game with some bone head stuff before their defense kind of got settled and their offense needed to score to stay close. That thing where they had a big play in the passing game and had it called back because a receiver was too far off the line of scrimmage at the snap was particularly bad. They had a number of significant plays called back because of silly penalties. And of course there was the QB's tendency to force the ball into double coverage.
Yes I know NDSU made some mistakes as well but I don't think they made quite as many. In any case that's what you need. EWU needed to minimize mistakes and have NDSU make some.
I'll admit I was kind of pulling for EWU in this one just because I was hoping Jim Tressel would remain alone as the coach with the most I-AA/FCS championships.
The sliver lining is that I do like that NDSU has been as dominant as a program as it's been with a physical, run oriented style of offense and a dominant defense. The popular take is that it's not possible to win like that nowadays. You know, it's impossible for defenses to handle today's whiz-bang offenses. North Dakota State puts the lie to that popular take just as Nebraska used to put the lie to it at the I-A/FBS level before they screwed up and decided to abandon their traditional winning formula and system.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
