I figure it must've looked like a foul to the official in live action. If the guy calling the game immediately thought he saw offensive pass interference it's understandable that the official thought he saw it.

It's the kind of thing I point to when I say luck ... or chance...plays a role in football. It so happens that the official made that call. And that call at that point in the game had a huge impact on Villanova's probability of winning that game.
Bottom line is IMHOP the officials shouldn't throw flags unless the foul is very obvious, and it affects the play (obviously this affected the play). Borderline, ticky tack shit shouldn't be called.
What should have been done in order:
1. No flag- would have been most appropriate IMHOP.
2. Defensive PI
3. Double PI that Mvemjsunpx mentioned (very rare)
4. Offensive PI

Just curious: From what conference was the officiating crew?
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

The way both offenses were going up and down the field VU would have had just as good, if not better chance at making the 3 yds in 1 play as SELA would making 70-80 yds in 1.5 min..

One team blew a 17 point lead. One call didn't determine the game.

The TD would still have been negated, but it wouldn't have been 1st. & 25.
Agree. I'll add that if similar plays with this kind of contact were not called earlier in the game, then there should have been no call on this play.

The problem is the replays available on the TV broadcast weren't in good position to see the arm bar. You can see it on the overhead shot but it's trailing the play and doesn't look as egregious as it does from a side view. The only other shot pans too late after the arm bar took place. Again, it's a tough call if you're a Villanova player, coach or fan, but had it not been flagged, we would have had a gripe. Especially after a questionable PI was called on us in the first half, and a missed illegal motion on Villanova on the same play that should have at least offset the penalties. But on the whole, it was well-officiated game. They let both teams play for the most part and called the obvious fouls. Villanova's penalties racked up due to several false starts, an illegal formation and three unsportsmanlike penalties. We had one as well.

Still complaining about a call against a team that blew a 17 point lead?

For the record, I don't see any posts from Nova fans here.

But, just one comment. there were about 25 possessions in the game and only three or four resulted in touchdown drives of less than 2 mins. So, to just assume SELA was going right down the field and scoring is a poor assumption. Interceptions, fumbles, penalties and/or just good defensive plays are more likely.
