That's fantastic. I have the video saved from years ago of AP's "the run" also. God that was a thing of beauty, finesse, and power. That's really cool but it's too bad that it doesn't have the radio guys transcript of the drive in with the pics. Now that's how it oughta be done.

The SIU drive against Northern Illinois University that capped off a win in the final minute in 2007. It was a last minute drive following a successful onside kick. The Salukis scored twice in the last couple of minutes to pull out the win.

The two that stick out most from my playing time are:

2004 2A District 1 title. We are playing our biggest rival..think SIU/UNI but on a high school level and the two teams are 12 miles apart....Both of us entered the game 8-0. The score was 7-6 we were up going into the 4th. They score with 3:02 remainging, get the two, and go up 14-7. Our offense then goes 74 yards, including a 54 yard double reverse pass, and scores. We go for two and take the lead 15-14 with 1:06 left. I've never been so nervous on the field as I was that following drive. They pull out a matching 54 yard reverse pass, and run 2 more outs to get down to the 5 yard line and call a TO with :03 left on the clock. They bring out their kicker, who was damn good, for the winning kick. Thankfully they end on my side forgot to block me and I got there just in time to block the kick as time expired to secure the game and district title...oh, and it was senior night on their field...HAHAHAH fuckers.

The other one isn't a drive, but a play. Earlier in the same season (we had 5 last minute wins that year), we trailed were up on a team 21-16. They scored with 10 seconds left, yes I was the MLB of our defense and I hated it when shit like that happend to us. They get a phantom PI call on the 2 pt conversion and try it again and get it. They go up 24-21. We get to the kick return huddle and no one wanted to say anything, and the coach just went "Captains, you have anything to say right now? It's your season on the line?" Well, I wasn't about to lose to these fuckers so I just said "How about we return this kick off, and get the fuck out of this shit hole?" Shitty speech I know, kiss my ass. However, it worked and for some reason it fired the other 10 guys up. We go out, return the kick 94 yards right in front of their bench to win the game as the clock hits zero. The best parts of this were: it was their homecoming, the church I went to growing up had a ton of people from this school that went to it, and one of them was talking to my mother by the fence and when they scored said to her "I hope you guys didn't plan on winning this game."

That fucking bastard didn't talk to me for 6 weeks after that, and to make matters worse I reminded him every time I saw him that I threw the block that sprung the return and laughed.

As a fan that drive that sticks out is the UNI/UNH game in 2007 that ended with "The Catch"

04' quarterfinals 10-2 JMU @ #2 Seed 10-2 Furman. JMU blocked an FU FG and got the ball back at their own 26 with 5:11. After a holding penalty and then an illegal forward pass put JMU back to their own 14, JMU drove 86 yards, including Rascatti completeing 5 out of 6. JMU had it 1st and goal at the FU 8, 2nd and goal at the 6, 3rd and goal at the 2, and finally punched it in on 4th and goal from the one with 28 seconds left and then made the PAT to make it 14-13. That was when Felton for FU was a freshman and was Ingle Martin's junior year. I thought Furman was the best team in the nation that year. Matthews later said the same I believe.

Here is a highlight film. Notice the:
-Furman punt JMU blocked at about the 2:25 mark recovered at the Furman 8 that led to JMU's 1st TD.
-Furman fumble JMU recovered at JMU's one yard line at bout the 4:25 mark
-Furman FG JMU blocked at about the 4:50 mark that was recovered at the JMU 26 with 5:11.
-The "Drive" starts right after the blocked FG at about the 5:05 mark and the TD about the 6:10 mark.

Back in the early 90s we had a great team and there were a lot of memorable games versus FBS opponents. Even though the Arkansas upset was probably the biggest, it was our final drive at South Carolina in 1990 that is still referred to as "The Drive" at The Citadel.

We had been trading TDs with the Cocks all day. Early in the 4th quarter USC was up 35-28. They finally stopped us on a drive and we settled for a field goal, making the score 35-31. With only about 3-4 minutes left in the game, Charlie Taaffe called an onsides kick following our field goal. We recovered at about the USC 45. We marched down the field with that clock-eating wishbone. They had us at 3rd and 8 at one point, but Jack Douglas completed a clutch pass for about 20 yards to take us to the 20 or so. A couple plays later we were 1st and goal at about the 9 yard line. We ran three plays and got the ball down to the 1 yard line; 4th and goal. With about 22 seconds left in the game, Jack Douglas kept the ball on a triple option left and walked into the endzone standing up. It was the most amazing final four minutes of FCS football I have ever seen from any team. So many things went right for us, and we thought that day that the stars had aligned just right, but then that same team went on a two year tear that included two wins over Army, Navy, and one over Arkansas. In hindsight I'd say that the win over USC wasn't all that surprising now.

Pull in close and don't interupt. I'll tell ye my yarn of the first lowering of the boats from the Pequod. It was a fine day for sailing and a pod of whales wer called off the bow. I called away boats and crews scurried to the lines as the harpooners boarded the vessels. I hailed for Fedallah and his crew to man my boat. Those yellow bastards were known to work til death and I stacked my rowers em. I lead the party cause the white whalemen were too weak to race to the pod. The harpoon flew true but was short of the whale. A second was too far on account of my peg.

Queequeg is the only to land a harpoon that day. I fine harpooner he. The struck whale turns to evil after Queequeg strikes him. The bastard capsized the skiff and we search for the party of missing whalemen in a soup of fog. The sun sets as we pull the men aboard, cold, near death. Alas, the first hunt disappointing, but the crew has chased the whale and now has a taste for the prize. Eventually we will find the white devil I seek; and vengeance will be mine!!!

Worst drive ever. :shake:
Bostonspider wrote:Well as a Spider fan I think there can only be one Drive: last year, FCS Semifinals, at UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, IA. After trialing 20-7 to start the 4th, UR was still down 20-14, and received the ball at their own 38 with 1:44 left and no time outs. 9 plays, 62 yards and 1:30 later, UR had taken the lead 21-20. A few Key Plays:

First and 10 from Richmond 38, 1:44 left -- Eric Ward throws a slant for 7 yards to redshirt freshman Donte Boston, playing because leading receiver Kevin Grayson is out with a groin pull. The completion gets UR moving and confident.
Second and 5 from UNI 45, 54 seconds left -- Ward hits Boston for 11 yards. Ward then spikes the ball, setting up UR at UNI's 34 with 44 seconds left.
Fourth and 2 from UNI 26, 33 seconds left -- Ward passes to fullback Shawn White, who makes his second catch of the season. The play gains 4 yards. White is shaken up. The clock stops for a few minutes at :27. UR's staff has time to plan a final assault.
Second and 1 from UNI 13, 18 seconds left -- Ward passes in the right flat to tight end Joe Stewart, who makes the catch and crosses the goal line at :14.

The UNI-Dome goes quiet and UR moves on to Chattanooga and a championship date with the Griz.

This one was rediculous. I've never felt like that in my life.

Keep in mind that the UNH player who scored the previous TD ran end to end on the visitor sideline with his finger to his mouth.

2004: Eastern Washington has just defeated 1st seeded Southern Ill @ Carbondale in the first round of the playoffs. The next week at practice, talk is going around about Eastern possibly hosting its first ever playoff game @ Woodward field. Before the game, I remember thinking.... we've got a high powered offense, a good enough defense, AND home field advantage, what could possibly go wrong!?

We started out on fire, and had COMMAND of the game by half time, however, Sam Houston was able to luck up on a punt return for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter & even though we still had a 13 point lead, I KNEW that this was no longer going to be a walk in the park.

Near the fourth quarter we managed to go 3 and out in the redzone, and we had to settle for a field goal..... The kick was blocked! This turned Sam Houston into a bunch of caged animals, and they quickly capitalized with a TD.

It was roughly 1:00 min left in the 4th quarter, the ball was on SHSU's 20, Sam Houstons' offense was RELENTLESS, as they lined up in empty sets. Everytime, they threw the ball it was a 7 yard reception, 11 yard reception... ect. By the time they reached midfield, there was only :30 seconds on the clock, and we knew, all we had to do was keep them out of the endzone for 3 or 4 plays! The first play was a 25 yard bomb, which they made look sooo eazy, then a 7 yard strike, that had them BANGING on the door, with :6 seconds left....... this team....... which none of us respected....... and none of us took seriously, & which, at this point, was fvcking unstoppable...............threw a touchdown pass & beat us in our own stadium, by one.....fvckin.....point.

I looked in the crowd and I heard nothing....no movement... nothing! then i looked towards the SHSU bench, and I saw them running & jumping for joy. It was the first & only time... I felt like a TOTAL j@ck@ss.

WE....WERE....STUNED!

Quotes from Eastern Washington University Head Coach Paul Wulff

On Loss: "I've some life experiences a little tougher than this. The game -- that's a heartbreaker -- I don't recall one that tough. We had control of the game the whole game and let it slip away at the end. But like I told the kids, we've won more games like that than we've lost. You know when you play in tight ball games, you're not always going to come out on top. We didn't tonight. I want to thank Spokane and the community for supporting us and just doing a great job of caring and following us. The crowd tonight was the best ever. Great job by our community of helping us and we can back and make this run next year."

On Defense In Final Drive: "
It's one of those deals where they'd taken some shots earlier and we don't want to give them an easy cheap one either. We were hoping they'd run out of time. They basically almost did until the last two seconds of the ball game. We gave them one more play and that was enough. It makes this game so interesting and fun to watch."

Quotes from Sam Houston State Head Coach Ron Randleman

On Win: "Obviously it was a terribly exciting win. I think that was the best comeback I have ever seen and that I've ever been a part of and I have been a part of some really exciting ones. That second half by our offense Dustin played as good as a guy can play. We had big catch after big catch by receiver after receiver. Then that last drive with Mathenia making the last three or four catches in a row, Lance kicking that PAT and Vinny blocking the field goal. I am just awfully proud of our football team. We have played together all year. Obviously we didn't play much offense in the first half, our defense did a good job. We just beat a very fine football team, their offense is the best offense we have played against this year. I am just terribly proud of our football team."

Quotes from Sam Houston State Quarterback Dustin Long

On Whether This Was the Most Exciting Game He Has Been Involved In: "Oh yeah for sure. Being down like that takes a lot of courage for this team to keep believing. We could have easily quit and said 'oh this is over', but everybody stuck in it and knew that if we got a chance at the end we would make it happen."
