So far. I am a bit concerned that we had to break out a trick play to keep that drive going (and what that holds going forward) but I will take it.

Yup. I have no problem to losing to SDSU as they are a MUCH better team.

Granted I still don't like it.

It was a good run for NDSU, but gotta say it's nice to see someone new. Pretty sure NDSU will be back in the mix again next year.

Congrats to the Bunnies. In 12 years only JMU in 2016 in semis Fargo amd SHSU in 2020/21 in quarterfinals had been able to stop NDSU, but no one had done it in Frisco where opposing teams were 0 for 9. The aforementioned SHSU and JMU were a combined 0-4..

Wasn’t there an SDSU fan or 2 on here at one point? If so its been years..

I’m stunned that it seemed like at least 1/2 the stadium was SDSU. They must have not only filled their whole 4k-4.5k allotment, and maybe a good chunk of SRO (was 1k that went on sale the week before the title game at least one of the years JMU was in it), but gotten a major portion of their fan base to believe they would make, and the minute the tickets went on sale in Aug, being online hitting refresh, refresh, refresh, as those 8k+ tickets that go on sale in Aug would sell out in minutes to mostly NDSU fans who were a well oiled machine in gobbling those up. Considering SDSU was in the NC game 2 years ago and the semis last year, I’m sure most of their fan base believed they would or could make it. Course I’m sure some SDSU fans bought on the secondary market for an exorbitant amoubt from NDSU and other FCS fans looking to make $$$.

Also wonder if a portion of the NDSU fan base got tired of going?

The typical shitty FCS officiating missed a lot of holds on both sides. Think they only threw one the whole game. I saw at least a 1/2 doz that should have been called.

I wasn't impressed with EITHER defense...early, anyway. The SDSU defense got better later, though I was a bit perturbed when they allowed NDSU to get out of the one-yard-line hole the incredible P/K Hunter Dustman put them in. SD State was much better in their selection (not to mention execution) of trick plays. That multiple-pitch end around was a nothing-doing right from the get-go, and was almost as bad as that end around that could have been a triple option yesterday in an NFL game (while I would have preferred the triple there, had their heart been truly set on the end around, it should have been executed with a handoff vice the toss). Actually, since I was stuck in a meeting that wasn't mine after church (my ride was part of the meeting; I'm administratively not allowed to use my truck until tomorrow, when I take it in for a smog check to complete my registration), I was relying on the DVR, which cut off before the game ended. As it turned out, I did get to see every score, though. The announcers were wondering why ND State didn't go for two when they got their third touchdown. I thought ND State made the right decision there, because had they gone for two and failed, they STILL would have had to get three touchdowns, rather than two TDs and a FG to force overtime when they kicked the PAT. Of course, in the end it didn't matter, but I'm glad their coaches were at least thinking with their heads there....

Yeah. I pretty much decided that this was not a vintage North Dakota State defense when I watched the Incarnate Word game. And this last game pretty much confirmed it. Not that it wasn't a good defense. But not like North Dakota State usually has.

Couple of points.

-Never seen NDSU’s DL get dominated like that. NDSU defense disn’t look very good, guving up 510 yds offense, 283 rushing.

-SDSU great run game, very good passing game, great run defense, solid special teams. Appeared susceptible to the pass, mainly because they weren’t getting much if any pressure with their front 4 (amd a few times inly rushed 3). Their de ends might be solid vs the run, but didn’t look to be much as pass rushers. Course the NDSU OL usually has several future NFLers on it, so that probably had a lot to do with it.

-NDSU not going for 2 early 4th qtr, down 24. :? Need 3 TDs with 3 2 point conversions. NDSU scores a TD, and then doesn’t go for 2, still leaving them still down by 3 scores with probably only 2 maybe 3 more possessions :suspicious: WTF could Entz have been thinking? That’s just basic math to go for 2 there. There aren’t going to be more FG attempts at that point.

I know I'm old school, but as noted above I disagree with this. As it was, sure, it was a three-possession game, but it was two TDs and a FG, which could have been obtained in any order that presented itself. Had they gone for two and missed, they would STILL have been three full touchdowns behind the 8 ball. I think they did it right. Point chasing outside the last couple of minutes of the game is dumb, IMO, because if you blow it, you've made the job that much harder....

LOL at all the people now posting stuff about the Jack's in my FB feed. Most of them probably can't explain the difference between FBS and FCS. :ohno:

I have friends with the same problem. They think teams like Sac State and UNI are somehow "D-II," despite the fact that if the basketball teams are good enough to make the Tournament, they'd likely be 13-16 seeds facing the North Carolinas of the world. They don't understand that if you're D-I in one sport, you have to be D-I in ALL sports, including football. There used to be a waiver for D-III schools to have a D-I "showcase sport" (usually hockey or lacrosse, or something like that). I'm not sure if that's still the case, but I think I heard something about the NCAA ending that at some point a few years ago....

Surprised it wasn’t a sellout. ESPN box score says 18,023, 88% of 20.5k capacity.

It was actually less than last year's game, although it was a higher number than the previous three before that.

The top five most attended championships were the five hosted by Marshall (this includes the 1994 one that Marshall didn't play in).
