  • NConf Record: 4-6
    Overall: 9-14

    vs. FCS: 2-2
    Overall: 5-4

Best Performance: (#7) Idaho 17, (FBS) Wyoming 13 - Keyshawn James-Newby registers 3 sacks and a forced fumble as the Vandals beat a Mountain West team for the 2nd. straight season.

Worst Performance: Portland St. 16, (#24) Weber St. 43 - The supposedly good Viking offense underachieves with just 240 yards while the suspect PSU defense somehow also disappoints by allowing 535 yards to a Weber program not exactly known for racking up big offensive numbers.

Most Surprising Result: Eastern Washington 32, Drake 35 (OT) - The Eagle run defense has been surprisingly good after 2 games, allowing just 58 ypg, but their pass defense is giving up 385 ypg thus far.

Worst Performance: Northwestern St. 31, Prairie View A&M 37 - The Demons' losing streak reaches double digits as they fall against an opponent that lost to Texas Southern by 3 scores last week.

Most Surprising Result: Texas A&M-Commerce 22, (#18) UC Davis 36 - Ron Peace threw for 457 yards and 3 second-half touchdowns to almost lead the Lions back from a 22-0 deficit against a heavily favored opponent.

Best Performance: (#23) North Dakota 27, (#4) Montana 24 - After getting shredded in the first half, the Fighting Hawks outgain Montana 241-34 in the second to up their home-opener win streak to 38.

Worst Performance: Murray St. 17, Butler 19 - Jayden Johannsen throws for just 41 yards and a pick (a 76.3 efficiency rating) in a demoralizing loss.

Most Surprising Result: Northern Iowa 17, St. Thomas 10 - The Panthers need 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to get past a team that got drilled by a DII last week.

  • NConf Record: 3-4
    Overall: 5-13

    vs. FCS: 2-2
    Overall: 4-4

Best Performance: Southern Utah 27, (FBS) UTEP 24 (OT) - Targhee Lambson runs for 183 yards and 2 TDs to lead the T-Birds to their first FBS win in 11 years.

Worst Performance: Utah Tech 14, (FBS) UNLV 72 - UNLV appears to be one of the better G5 squads this season, but still… being outrushed 504-67 and losing by 58 points is still pretty humiliating.

Most Surprising Result: Southern Utah 27, (FBS) UTEP 24 (OT) - After a Miner touchdown on the final play of regulation and a series of penalties on SUU in overtime, it looked like this one was destined to end in tragic fashion just like many of last week's FCS/FBS contests. Fortunately, UTEP's even worse luck won out as they blew 2 field-goal opportunities in the extra period (the first miss was wiped out by an SUU 12-man penalty).

Worst Performance: Marist 10, Georgetown 31 - Despite having an entire offseason to prepare for this one, the Red Foxes can't reverse their recent ugly skid against the Hoyas.

Most Surprising Result: Drake 35, Eastern Washington 32 (OT) - Though they did have that bizarro scare against Iowa State in 2018, this was the Bulldogs' first DI non-conference win in 17 years (Illinois State).

We could easily be the worst performance. Not only is the corner play bad but we have zero intermediate to long passing game. We don’t really even attempt to throw it past 5 yards. Zero offensive ID with every play call looking experimental.

This is not a good team right now and I’ll be surprised if we get past 4 wins.

Are you saying that the Eags could replace their quarterback with Derek Carr and nobody would know the difference?

Worst Performance: Fordham 3, Central Connecticut St. 33 - This game, apparently played in a monsoon, had 19 combined fumbles (16 in the first half). :yikes: The Rams had 12 of those fumbles, losing 5. They were also sacked 9 times.

Most Surprising Result: Fordham 3, Central Connecticut St. 33 - This is the fewest points Fordham has scored since they were shut out by Colgate 5 years ago.

Worst Performance: Stonehill 10, Stony Brook 37 - The Skyhawks are smacked around by a team that had lost 13 straight coming in.

Most Surprising Result: Robert Morris 21, (DII) Edinboro 23 - One week after playing an FBS foe tough (for a while), the Colonials fall to a DII that went 3-8 last year. :suspicious:

Most Surprising Result: (#14) Richmond 19, Wofford 26 - I wasn't as high on Richmond as most people coming into the season, but still… losing at home to Wofford? Really? :?

Best Performance: Wofford 26, (#14) Richmond 19 - The Terriers force 4 interceptions off of Richmond quarterbacks with Amir Annoor collecting 2 of them.

Worst Performance: (#15) Furman 20, Charleston Southern 24 - The Furman offense gets wrecked as they commit 4 turnovers and endure 4 sacks.

Most Surprising Result: (#15) Furman 20, Charleston Southern 24 - After two weeks, we haven't seen anything from Furman that would remotely justify their preseason ranking.

Shame on you, kalm. Danny White is not Mr. Checkdown. That distinction belongs to Carr, and now to a surprising degree Russell Wilson....

Ivy League

(no games until Week 4)

MEAC

MORG 9-14 TOW
MHURST 31-32 HOW
vsu 23-28 NFOLK
ELON 41-19 NCCEN
SCSU 23-20 CIT

  • NConf Record: 3-2
    Overall: 6-7

    vs. FCS: 2-2
    Overall: 5-4

Best Performance: South Carolina St. 23, The Citadel 20 - South Carolina State beat The Citadel, The Citadel beat Charleston Southern, Charleston Southern beat Furman… too bad SCSU can't play Wofford to potentially earn the "Best FCS team in South Carolina" trophy.

Worst Performance: Howard 32, Mercyhurst 31 - The Bison, who were a 4-TD favorite, gave up a go-ahead touchdown with 41 seconds left. They blocked the PAT and returned it for two, however, which reduced the deficit to 2 points instead of 4+. That ultimately allowed them to win it with a field goal at the gun. :?

Most Surprising Result: NC Central 19, Elon 41 - The Eagles throw 3 interceptions and get thumped at home by a team they upset on the road last year.

  • NConf Record: 7-5
    Overall: 9-14

    vs. FCS: 1-2
    Overall: 3-5

Best Performance: Mississippi Valley St. 14, Lamar 28 - The Delta Devils were actually within a touchdown of a good(?) team until about a minute left.

Worst Performance: Bethune-Cookman 2, Mercer 31 - 15 Mercer penalties were the only things preventing this from being a total massacre.

Most Surprising Result: Mississippi Valley St. 14, Lamar 28 - A bit closer than expected, but it's still MVSU's 8th. straight non-conference loss.

Independents

MERR 17-63 UCONN
anselm 3-10 SACHRT

  • Non-Ind. Record: 1-1
    Overall: 1-3

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 0-1

    Best Performance: (none)

Worst Performance: Merrimack 17, (FBS) UConn 63 - The Warriors allow 481 yards and 14.1 yards-per-play to a bad FBS squad in the first half.

Most Surprising Result: Sacred Heard 10, (DII) St. Anselm 3 - Aside from being unexpectedly close, this game also must've been unwatchable with a total of just 319 yards for both offenses combined
