All 4-year Football Schools in California

Post by SuperHornet »

Man, this really whomps. There are 18 4-year college football teams in California, and the worst choice of them all has the best record. I'm not happy at all with this. The Manure Pile sucks! (But not this year, apparently....)

1. CA-Davis (9-1, 6-0 NCAA D-I FCS Big Sky Conference)
2. Pomona-Pitzer (7-2, 6-1 NCAA D-III SoCal Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)
3. Chapman (7-2, 6-1 NCAA D-III SoCal Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)
4. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (7-2, 5-2 NCAA D-III SoCal Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)
5. U. of San Diego (6-3, 4-2 NCAA D-I FCS Pioneer League)
6. San Jose State (6-3, 3-2 NCAA D-I FBS Mountain West Conference)
7. California (5-4, 1-4 NCAA D-I FBS Atlantic Coast Conference)
8. Fresno State (5-5, 3-3 NCAA D-I FBS Mountain West Conference)
9. CA-Los Angeles (4-5, 3-4 NCAA D-I FBS Big Ten Conference)
10. S. California (4-5, 2-5 NCAA D-I FBS Big Ten Conference)
11. San Diego State (3-6, 2-2 NCAA D-I FBS Mountain West Conference)
12. Redlands (3-6, 3-4 NCAA D-III SoCal Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)
13. Sacramento State (3-7, 1-5 NCAA D-I FCS Big Sky Conference)
14. Stanford (2-7, 1-5 NCAA D-I FBS Atlantic Coast Conference)
15. Cal Poly (2-7, 1-5 NCAA D-I FCS Big Sky Conference)
16. Cal Lutheran (1-8, 1-6 NCAA D-III SoCal Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)
17. Simpson (0-8, 0-0 NAIA Independent)
18. La Verne (0-9, 0-7 NCAA D-III SoCal Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)

BTW, Simpson is a first-year start-up. It's embarrassing that my team is stuck behind a bad D-III and just ahead of some bad D-IIIs, an newbie NAIA school, and some really bad D-I teams, including the one that pilfered our coach. We're supposed to be leading this list.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Simpson lost a few weeks ago, 97-0, to Montana Tech. They are going to join the NAIA Frontier Conference next year.

Northern will finally have a winnable game.

As comprehensive as they seem... 18 football-playing programs in entire state seems pale compared to decades past. :ohno:
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Agreed. Chico State, Hayward State (now Cal State East Bay), University of the Pacific, Long Beach State, and Cal State Fullerton at the very least have dropped football. And I was 6th string QB at UOP when it happened in '95. Our big claim to fame that year was beating OR State....

Humboldt State, Menlo College, St. Mary's and Azusa come to my mind.

Yes. Cheap-shotting St. Mary's. I forgot about how they cheated against Sac back in the '90s....

I think Cal Poly Pomona had a team. IIRC, EWU played them when we were DII or NAIA.
