Big Sky Predictions 9-19

The last round of non-conference action before the conference resumes with conference play next week. I missed two game last week, putting me at 26-5 for the year so far. There are some good matchups this week, and maybe some chances at more FBS scalps (we've had two so far in conference). Here are this week's predictions. The weekend actually begins Friday with Portland State catching Oregon on a short week.

PSU at Oregon (FBS Big 10)---A Friday matchup has the Vikings going up a level and a big step, playing their angry brothers from just down the road. A short week may be the only good thing about the game. Even their best effort will most like leave the Vikings far behind...Oregon 66, PSU 7.

Abilene Christian (FCS United) at UI---The Vandals get another strong FCS team to come to their home dome for a contest this Saturday. They may need this game if they harbor any playoff aspirations. They haven't look good so far. Can they recover?...UI 27, Abilene Christian 24.

SUU at St. Thomas (FCS Pioneer)---The Thunderbirds are motoring down the road for a contest against on of the stronger teams in the Pioneer. They were hoping for a better showing after moving up a level last week. They return to the FCS this week, Can they get this win?...SUU 31, St. Thomas 20.

Central Connecticut State (FCS Northeast) at MSU---It would be one thing to say the Bobcats know how to schedule easy games. But the one game that was supposed to be difficult last week went rather smoothly. Will the Bobcats overlook this game? Will it matter?...MSU 48, Central Connecticut State 7.

EWU at Washington (FBS Big 10)---On paper this looks like a big mismatch. But the Eagles may be catching their big brothers to the west at the right time. The thing is that the Eagles didn't look to good last week. And while the opponent didn't look good either, this could get away...Washington 28, EWU 17.

San Diego (FCS Pioneer) at CP---The Mustangs have been a surprise this season so far, remaining competitive and getting some wins. They have this game at home, against their little darlings from the other side of L.A. They should not let good feeling diminish...CP 31, San Diego 14.

NAU at UTU----The Trailblazers continue on their welcoming tour of the conference, coming home to face the Lumberjacks, who are coming off a good home win last week. The Trailblazers look like they are adjusting just fine to the conference, but can they win? Not here...NAU 31, UTU 14.

Northeastern State (DII) at UNC---Did the Bears fix some things that almost got them an FBS scalp last week? Or was it just a situation of playing a weak FBS team? They return home, bringing in a strong DII program to their home turf. They need this one...UNC 31, Northeastern State 24.

Northwestern State (FCS Southland) at WSU---The Wildcats have been hot and cold, depending on who they play. Last week they stepped up a level and looked lousy. This week finds them back at home against an FCS opponent. Time for the Wildcats to look good...WSU 48, Northwestern State 42.

Stetson (FCS Pioneer) at UCD---The Aggies are trying to get back on the winning column this week after playing a top FBS team on the road. They are bringing in a team from the other side of the country to their cozy comforts. This should be an easy win...UCD 41, Stetson 10.

UM at Oregon State (FBS Pac-12)---The Grizzlies have seen what the Bobcats and the Bengals have done in getting scalps and they would like to get one here. Their opponent are trying to right their own ship so they may not be too hospitable. Still, it should be a good game...Oregon State 31, UM 20.
