AE's Draft Position from AGS Thread
I was reading that thread and because I refuse to post there ever again I thought I would point a couple of things out.
1. NFL teams were looking at AE as a WR/ATH first and foremost entering the season.
2. NFL teams have realized that he has a better arm than many NFL QBs and has the talent to warrant a look.
3. Some teams are even considering him in the mid rounds and have said behind closed doors that he would be a top 2 round selection if he were just 6'2 200 or so.
One of two problems with AE at QB in my mind is that there is only one good QB in the NFL under 6'2 200 and that is Drew Brees. Odds are not in his favor to make it but his great talent will get him that chance for sure. The Citadel poster is 100% wrong that teams are not looking at him as a QB because I have talked to a lot of people in the league and every single one of them wants to look at AE as a QB. Jerry Moore has even noted that teams are now talking about him as a QB. I still find it shocking right now that he has no all-star game invites. I really think he deserves a shot in the Senior Bowl because of his career. There is still time but it just boggles my mind that nobody has invited him already, especially after winning his second Walter Payton on Thursday. I would have thought that a game might have extended an invite as soon as that was announced because of how good it would look to have the first ever two-time winner of the award.

I hope he does get some invites - and his arm is definately worthy of a look at the next level.

I am shocked that he has not been invited to the Senior Bowl. Hopefully, this changes.

Re: AE's Draft Position from AGS Thread
He and Brees would be good arguments but there is something he and Brees have that AE does not right now. The good news of that problem is that AE can fix it . The bad news is that he has not done it yet but the good news is that he can fix that problem. His weight. Right now he is around 181-184 at 5'11 and Vick is 6'0, 215 pounds while Brees is 6'0, 209 pounds. They both are a lot thicker than AE. His skinny build is a concern. Another major concern that nobody has mentioned is that a player like AE, because of his arm strength and accuracy, will get a look at QB and he has yet to take a snap from under center. In the NFL every offense has at least half their plays where the QB is under center. That will be a major adjustment. If I was AE the first two things I would do before workouts is get very comfortable taking snaps under center and gain muscle weight while concentrating on keeping that speed and burst at the same time.BlackFalkin wrote:Vick.SmallCollegeFBFan wrote:

He said GOOD QBs, not good athletes. That eliminates Vick.

Re: AE's Draft Position from AGS Thread
IMO, AE throws the ball 100% better than Vick ever has...
"Born in other countries, yet believing you could be happy in this, our laws acknowledge, as they should do, your right to join us in society, conforming, as I doubt not you will do, to our established rules. That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801

Edwards is both.BlackFalkin wrote:Welp... That eliminates Edwards.Brave wrote:He said GOOD QBs, not good athletes. That eliminates Vick.
He may not be a good enough QB to overcome his size drawbacks and make it at the next level, but he has a strong, accurate arm and makes good decisions a high percentage of the time ... which is more than can be said for Vick.

You wanna talk throwing accuracy;
Checkmate
.Set an NCAA record for a freshman and established single-season school records for highest yards passing per completion (20.4), per attempt (12.1), highest completion percentage (59.2) and most yards per play (9.3)
Checkmate

Troy Smith on the Ravens, he's listed as 6", but I have stood next to him. No way he's over 5'10". He's thick though, all of 220.

I see AE first making an impact as a better Josh Cribbs.

AE is still hurt from the season with a MCL injury. I notice some people don't think AE will make it because of his size but he is damaged goods and being so thin I don't see him lasting in the NFL because of that. He is a dynamic playmaker though and I think he would be best suited in the CFL because he doesn't have to gain 20-25 pounds or so to hold up in the CFL like he would in the NFL. I would say he could add 5-10 pounds and play around 190.

Nothing wrong with playing in the CFl, my QB played up there for 9 years.SmallCollegeFBFan wrote:AE is still hurt from the season with a MCL injury. Re: AE's Draft Position from AGS Thread
I think size is the only thing holding him back. That's all that kept him from getting FBS offers. If that's the only thing that keeps some NFL teams from having any interest in him... they'll regret it, imo.
He is definitely pretty damn skinny right now. But... he's also put a lot of weight on in the last 5-6 years. I was reading something recently about him being 140 pounds as a junior in high school. It's certainly understandable why FBS teams overlooked him at that size.
But, he's been "too small" his whole life. If given the chance I think he'll succeed... not necessarily at QB... but somewhere. Hopefully since he's graduated he will start working his ass off towards showcasing his ability at the combine.

Agree, he's definately the athlete the pros are looking for...and given his passing and running ability, I think they could overlook his height...it's his weight that I'm betting most of the pros don't like...Skjellyfetti wrote:I think size is the only thing holding him back. But you are correct, he'll make some team happy, either by the draft or free agency...
