FCS Recruiting?????
Can anyone here tell if there is a place that covers FCS recruiting?

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
Rivals, Scout and ESPNinsider always have info, but it is never complete, or accurate. Don't know about other conferences, but caainsider.com does a pretty good job. Click on CAA Football on the left hand menu and you can then access what's known about each school's offers and commitments on the next left side menu.

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
Nothing comprehensive. In addition to the sites that Tribe mentioned, I just set my google news alerts and search the local state hs football forums that most of our players come from (NY, NJ, PA).
Other than that its a crapshoot.

I know all about how reliable Rivals, Scout and ESPN are with FCS Recruiting. Thats why I asked the question, to see if there was a site that dedicates itself to the FCS level.

Showing Blitz used to be good...
Best bet nowadays is each school's individual site. On KatFans.com, you can find the SLC recruiting list, compiled by numerous fans from other schools...

That is something that we would like to add to this site - daunting task though.

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
The guy who does it for caainsider (Delaware fan - Hens21a on GoHens site) gets alot of help from other fans, but I'm sure he puts alot of time into it. He only lists offers and commitments for which there is a credible source, so while it may not be complete, it tends to be very accurate. Someone would need to take on the job, and ride herd on it. Daunting indeed.dbackjon wrote:That is something that we would like to add to this site - daunting task though.

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
Some FCS schools have Rival sites (I know ASU and Richmond do), so their information should be considered very reliable for those schools. Outside of those, I'd say it would be pretty hard to compile the information without help from fans.

Their message boards on Rivals may have good information, but their Rivals recruiting pages are usually no more accurate or complete than any other FCS schools.ChetSteadman wrote:Some FCS schools have Rival sites (I know ASU and Richmond do), so their information should be considered very reliable for those schools. Re: FCS Recruiting?????
Well, I asked this for a reason. I work for another college football website, and we are in the process of building a recruiting site. The site will include FCS Recruiting among many others. It will be much more detailed than scouts, rivals, espn and so on.dbackjon wrote:That is something that we would like to add to this site - daunting task though.

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
ASU's rivals page is as good as any FBS counterpart. There are two reporters, one who works ASU full time, the other works part-time with another North Carolina FBS school. They are in constant contact with commitments and have sources within the coaching staff (since the coaches can't officially discuss recruits). They are spot on and generally have information available nowhere else.Tribe4SF wrote:Their message boards on Rivals may have good information, but their Rivals recruiting pages are usually no more accurate or complete than any other FCS schools.ChetSteadman wrote:Some FCS schools have Rival sites (I know ASU and Richmond do), so their information should be considered very reliable for those schools. It is in the process of being built right now. It will take several months to build. I promise that everyone here will know about it when it launches.Tribe4SF wrote:When, and where should we be looking for that?Cocky2001 wrote:

Good luck to you Cocky2001 on what you are working on...
I am sure we will all be interested in helping supply information, as well as promoting the board on our "home message boards" to direct traffic your way!

I will use info from wherever we can get it. We are working right now on getting good relationships with each school. The site is going to be really big in size, and we will have message boards there as well for people to tell us info.TexasTerror wrote:Good luck to you Cocky2001 on what you are working on...

(At least in App's case... not sure about Richmond's)

App State's info on rivals is about the only one that is any good. The rest don't seem to get updated much, if at all.Skjellyfetti wrote:You're wrong.Tribe4SF wrote:Their message boards on Rivals may have good information, but their Rivals recruiting pages are usually no more accurate or complete than any other FCS schools.

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
I'll stand corrected on ASU, but Richmond and Villanova both have Rivals sites, and their information is pretty much like the rest of FCS. Richmond's page currently has missing commits, and one guy who decommitted still shows for the Spiders. Their messageboard stays much more current on recruiting.Skjellyfetti wrote:You're wrong.Tribe4SF wrote:Their message boards on Rivals may have good information, but their Rivals recruiting pages are usually no more accurate or complete than any other FCS schools.

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
My understanding (and I welcome corrections) is that recruiting info is only as good as the athletes releasing the info...that a school can not say anything about offers until Letter-of-intent day...
If this is so, then local newspapers would seem to be one of the best sources...and you'll never get a complete picture because not every student/athlete will release that information for a variety of reasons...
I have Google alerts set up for UMass football....I read blogs like the one UMass74 does...and I still don't have a clear picture of what's happening...so, trying to do it on a national basis will be a daunting task, IMHO...Good Luck...

Re: FCS Recruiting?????
I agree. TXST is very tight lipped in this regard. We have a guy with someone's ear but it hardly tells us anything other than what you can find on Rivals, or elsewhere. We have a list and, except for guys that have transferred in already, we really have no clues to who will actually be coming until signing day. There isn't a HS game that showcases guys wanting to attend FCS schools, sitting there with hats in front of them, and picking their school on national TV.
