Depending on your degree, Cal Poly can be one of the better paying universities to get a degree at.
Besides Stanford, he received interest from Oregon State, San Diego State, Washington State, San Jose State, Cal, Utah State, and others.![]()

I completely Agree Jd of Delaware
There have been a number of recruits from Cal Poly who have made the jump to the NFL and other pro ranks.. It seems like the FCS in general is getting more looks, because the quality is improving.
As has been mentioned before- if a player has the abilities, he'll be noticed and plucked out. Cal Poly is a good place to get looks though.. and I'm glad we have a Singletary connection now.

1.If anybody remembers the Cal Poly Wisconsin game then the question of the kicker will be immediately answered.
2. San Diego is my hometown and SLO was my college town. I love them both but I will say if I could have made any dough in SLO I would probably still be there.

1. I remember, and getting the #9 kicker in the country should help...CPAlum wrote:1.If anybody remembers the Cal Poly Wisconsin game then the question of the kicker will be immediately answered.

2. San Diego is a very nice city, but I would definitely stay in SLO as well if there was more jobs and the housing costs were lower.

Dang! Are you showing those pictures to further influence me to head west to SLO with McNeese next year?expandspanos wrote:It is kind of hard to compare a city of over a million to a city of ~50,000.. and you're probably right about there being more job opportunities in a city that's 25 times larger..
The question always comes down to- would you rather live dealing with constant traffic jams and more pollution, or would you rather enjoy hiking, secluded beaches, wine country- with no traffic and great locally grown food?
Besides, San Diego loves us so much they named a street after us.. no San Diego street here.![]()
seven miles from town in two directions you run into the ocean, and some of the best beaches in the state (and you don't get in a traffic jam going to them).. below is Avila Beach. I know quite a few Poly kids who commute from here.
Anyway, great recruiting class huh?.. and
Man, that's pretty. SD is a winner also. I lived there for three months in 1969, but unfortunately, the Marines never let me out of MCRD to visit anything! Went back in 1989 and had a nice visit. Both places are winners I think. SLO is more my size though.

DG, you make it out to SLO and we will show you a good time. I am looking forward to my trip out to Lake Charles this September. We are going to fly into New Orleans on Thursday and see if we can help their economy that night before heading to Lake Charles on Friday.DG Cowboy wrote:Dang! Sounds like you are going to have a fun time SLOStang! I was in Louisiana once, a year before Katrina and besides sweating my a$$ off, it was really a fun time. I've heard McNeese has good tailgaiting too.

Re: Cal Poly 2010 Signing Class
Slostang,
Just suggesting. Don't come to Lake Charles on the Interstate if you really want to see South Louisiana. Take US 90 out of New Orleans, cut across to Thibodaux where Nicholls State is. Keep going to Morgan City where you hit 90 again. All this is 4 lane anyway. MC is a center of the offshore oil industry. Come up to New Iberia and off 90 take LA 14 (no more four lane) through Abbeville, Kaplan, Gueydan, Lake Arthur, Hayes and Bell City and then LC. If you time it for lunch to be in Abbeville try Black's, Dupuis', Riverside Inn, or Shuck's. Don't take the bypass in Abbevile. The square is really pretty. In Lake Arthur, turn into downtown and circle the lake front (my hometown). You'll miss Baton Rouge and the Atchafalaya Basin, but you won't be disappointed! Shorter in miles and not much more time, except for any stops.

Rivals has been notoriously inaccurate and incomplete in its kicker ratings.expandspanos wrote:He got 5 stars according to Chris Sailer Kicking.Skjellyfetti wrote:What site was that kicker given 5-stars on?
And, I know USC was looking for a kicker. They offered a three star kicker and the highest rated kickers on Rivals are 3-stars. Surely USC would have been all over this guy. Seems odd to me...
Well, here's the list of the top kickers, and where they went: http://www.prokicker.com/news/footballrecruiting
here's the list of the top 50 kickers in 2010:
http://www.prokicker.com/rankings/recruiting/kickers
notice how he is ranked #9 in the country
Prokicker has some great kickers on their list but their scouts do not get as much exposure to the nation's best kickers as Chris Sailer.
Chris Sailer personally views by far the largest number of top kickers from around the country. Even though, like all kicking camp sponsors, Chris is partial to those who participate in his camps, his ratings are the most reliable in the country.
There are several excellent kicking programs other than Sailer's but they tend to be regional homers.
