Hillary to leave USC for smaller program

Any thoughts on where he may be headed? :coffee:

Backup QB exits program after falling behind on depth chart

Aramis Hillary joined the USC football program with high hopes from his coach, but left without taking a snap in a game.

Hillary, a redshirt freshman from North Augusta, has left the team with the intention of transferring to a smaller program. Coach Steve Spurrier confirmed the news after Wednesday's spring practice, the second in a row that Hillary had missed.

"Aramis is probably going to transfer down a division where he's got a chance to play next year," Spurrier said. "I think it's a smart idea. He wants to play and we wish him the best."

The news hardly was a surprise, as Hillary was passed this spring by true freshman Connor Shaw, an early enrollee, for the top backup spot. Hillary's destination was not immediately known.

"I think he's got two or three choices," Spurrier said. "I've got an idea where he's going, but we'll let him tell you if he wants to. He may change his mind since I last heard."

Hillary is facing misdemeanor charges of alcohol possession after he and his brother CoCo, a receiver at Appalachian State, were pulled over by police in West Columbia earlier this month.

Attempts to reach the player were unsuccessful. His mother and lawyer Michael Jeffcoat both declined to comment. After a brief suspension, he was reinstated to the team.

If that's true then he's looking for a MUCH smaller program. Why would he go from FBS to D-II?

is CCU small enough?

"South Carolina quarterback Aramis Hillary said Thursday that "more than likely" he'll transfer to Coastal Carolina.

Coastal has offered Hillary a scholarship, but he isn't 100 percent sure that he'll transfer to Coastal, he said. Hillary has three years of eligibility remaining."

Youngstown State Head Coach Eric Wolford just left South Carolina in December. I was told by someone very close to Wolford that he is actively looking for a FBS QB transfer, because we are thin at that position.

Would not be surprised if Hillary ends up at YSU since Wolford just left USC.

I know bennett HATES having a winnng season so he probably wont start aramis but if he does watch out big south. this kid is a beast, hes gonna be the new armanti( assuming the rest of our team doest suck like they have the last 3 years and the defense plays good for once in our 7 years). Either way im just counting down till the day we can afford to buyout bennett!

Armanti??? Please!!!

No way. If he was that good he would still be at USC. I heard on a radio station out of Columbia (the flagship station of USC athletics) that his arm is not what they thought it was. It is not nearly strong enough. Plus, he was recently arrested for underage drinking with his brother.

Hmmm...More underage drinking, that is exactly what Coastal needs.

This is just another example of Coastal being willing and ready to accept anybody's leftovers and castoffs.

underage drinking is good for us, its a step up from what are crimes have been in the last 2 years.

kidnappings
assaults
drug dealing
rapes
sexual assaults
hanging people over 3rd floor balconies
robberies in Football uniforms

the fact is bennett has destroyed this program over the last 3 years by not fixing the defense or special teams. ANY help we can get at this point is good as long as the kid hasnt raped or assaulted anyone.

OK, my buddy Will C. was charged with the whole rape/sexual assault before he ever played a game... the girl was such a liar and ended up pregnant by some other guy just months later. He was removed from the team just because of a girls claims. YES they had sex but it wasn't rape like she said (she thought she was prego and freaked out is what really happened) He had so much potential coming out of Aynor HS.
