Since you are the expert on CA High School, do you remember seeing Michael Herrick play in HS?
He was first team All-State in 2005...
If you did, thoughts?

No. Up until ’07, I regularly attended the Scout and Rivals combines in SoCal, but I missed the ’06 L.A. one which Herrick attended. I just looked at his hlight clips, and wasn’t that impressed. Dive and boots were clean, decisive and fast, and his angles were pretty good, but so are a hundred other kids. Ya gotta see them sh!ttn-n’gittn scrambling, thinking on their feet, and see how they pull it out before you know. SoCal has a tendency to hype the daylights out of their QB’s. I’ll admit Sanchez is good, Leinert finally came around, and I suppose Claussen eventually will also, but when the pundits start barking about how great a HS QB is, I take it with a grain of salt. He was at Valencia HS, which plays a very soft schedule, not even taking on any of the big dogs in pre-season. Now, if he had come from Crenshaw, Oak Christian, Dorsey, Mater Dei, LB Poly, Bonaventure, or Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), I might have given his stats another look. I’m not necessarily diss’ing him, but I think all the whoopla about his HS stats was just that. Once he moved up, he had to prove himself all over, and at this level, there’s a ton of talent. If you look at guys like Ryan Dinwiddie (one of our boys), and Colt Brennan, both dual threat with wicked arms, they set tons of records, but at one point or another in their career, they hit snags. Maybe this is Herricks.dbackjon wrote:Since you are the expert on CA High School, do you remember seeing Michael Herrick play in HS?

Just glancing at his stats, looks like he's not as good a dual threat as advertised. Then again, he's the new kid on the block, so maybe time will be forgiving.
