Re: How's your Backfield?
WEber State has a lot of ifs, one of those is WSU could have the best backfield in the big sky if our all-american half back is back. our full back was preseason 1st team.

Re: How's your Backfield?
Our Junior FB (Jeff McVaney) has now left the football team. This is the guy that was a 2 sport athlete. He played summer ball and tore it up in the Cal League. He had improved immensely as a pitcher last season (14.09 ERA in 2009 to a 1.75) while also being our DH.
Seems he was advised to drop the football and concentrate on the baseball.
Coach was going to utilize the FB position more this year because of McVaney's talent but now I don't know. Our remaining FB's are a RS Freshman and a recruit.. two weeks before kick-off and one of them needs to step up big time. We had a guy that would have been a Sr but seems he left the team in the off-season

UR will operate with a time-sharing arrangement at running back. Four players are expected to regularly carry the ball after three seasons of one Spider clearly functioning as the lead back. Each of the four classes will be represented, with 5-10, 201-pound senior Tyler Kirchoff; 5-9, 180-pound junior Garrett Wilkins; 6-1, 225-pound sophomore Kendall Gaskins and 6-0, 186-pound redshirt freshman Jovan Smith.
