Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
Depends..against FBS most of the unless it is the Griz (won't apply until they play Tennessee)
OOC - other conferences yes b/c if they win it makes our conference look stronger.
Playoffs - I root for all conference mates but are not too disappointed if they get beat.

I now that deep down, Hose, you can't help but like Liberty!
I'd root for an conference team OOC and any FCS against FBS. Either way, I'm rooting for the underdog!

I can't say that I really care one way or the other in most cases. Ivy vs. Patriot matchups generally don't get folks riled up. Other than that, I always root for Penn to lose, regardless of the competition!

Absolutely I am always for the caa teams against out of conference foes. I love to see the caa prove just how dominate we are. I think there is a pretty wide gulf between the caa and the next best conference.

Hell no. Everyone of the fokers is on my shit list (except Western) for taking advantage of the last 4 years.

Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
No I don't...
Wait, Yes I do.
Wait....no I really don't.
I'm actually indifferent during the regular season OOC games. If they win so be it, if they lose and it was a team they should have beaten I'll give them shit. NDSU is different though, I hope they lose all of their games.
I don't buy into the "It makes the conference look better". I'm I'm relying on how good the conference looks that means UNI didn't win the conference and needs help for an AL bid...which I don't ever cheer for.

Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
Sort of a catch 22. On one hand you want them to win, so when you play them they are higher ranked...thusly making your win against them that much better. However their strong OOC win may be the difference in them getting in over your team.
In playoff time it depends. If Delaware is in it, I want the CAA teams to lose because I feel they are tougher than another opponent due to UD playing them frequently. If UD is out, then yes.

Yes pretty much across the board against FBS teams, but otherwise I'm likely to be influenced by our conference standings, assuming we've got a chance for the playoffs.

Like most of the people who've posted thus far, I usually pull for conference mates, except for App. They don't really like us, we don't really like them. Though I will admit I was pulling for them to beat Michigan (the last time I've pulled for them).

Generally, unless they play down, then I root for the upset. Like MSU last year against Dixie State
, or CWU a couple years ago against the Griz. (I went to HS with CWU's QB at the time, Mike Reilly). But against OOC FCS teams or FBS, I root for BSC brethren.

Except that you're rooting for the bloody Tree Huggers this time, right?

Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
I started rooting for Yankee Conference teams going back to the days when you had:
UMASS vs. Harvard
UCONN vs. Yale
UNH vs. Dartmouth
and of course URI vs. Brown.
If my memory serves me correctly I think the Ivy League vs. YC games were all on the same weekend.
Now I usually root for CAA teams in OOC games. No problem cheering for UNH since they have some great fans.
I must admit though that on 9/11/2010 that I'll be cheering for CCU.

I root for the fellow SoCon schools to win in ooc games only because a win brings more respect and recognition for the conference.

Mostly no. Most of the conference I'm indifferent towards. I pull for SoCon teams when they're playing FBS, but I never pull for Vurman or the Stink.

Yes, even the ones wearing purple.
The only exception I might make would be if NC A&T were playing.

I think that pretty much sums it up. There is something fun about watching Coastal implode.CSUBUCDAD wrote:I pull for all the Big South schools in OOC games EXCEPT COASTAL.
I don't really root for Presby but I'd be happy if they won.
I have a man-crush on Coach Mills and like to see CSU improving.
I'd like to see SBU and G-W do better to help improve the conference.
VMI... well... yeah.

Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
I don't pull for Coastal because the one time I went there for a game I was treated like a 3rd class non human and it wasn't all in good competitive fun. Those that have been around know what my history is and it was all I could do to keep from putting a few of those idiots in a pine box. My son is a pretty subdued guy and I had to physically restrain him on more than one occasion. Just flat out some of the rudest fans I have ever been around.ToTheLeft wrote:I think that pretty much sums it up.
