Delaware Freshman Andrew Pierce.. first three game
55 rushes for 484 yrds.. 8.8 per carry
Pierce may not be AP.. but he sure looks like one heck of a RB.

The UD team itself may still be questionable.. but anyone who knows football and has seen this kid play his first three games would admit that Pierce has real talent.Fact wrote: We've seen Delaware teams in the past look good against cupcakes only to fall flat on their face.

Nova fans' sphincters have tightened up a little I see.Fact wrote:Yes, Against Dub C, Duquesne and South Dakota State... I agree that it's too early to tell because they haven't gone on the road, and haven't played a CAA game yet, but since 2000, the Hens have started the season 3-0 four times before...Fact wrote:We've seen Delaware teams in the past look good against cupcakes only to fall flat on their face.

Wait a minute, you're saying that Fact's post was actually, er, non-factual????89Hen wrote:I agree that it's too early to tell because they haven't gone on the road, and haven't played a CAA game yet, but since 2000, the Hens have started the season 3-0 four times before...Fact wrote:We've seen Delaware teams in the past look good against cupcakes only to fall flat on their face.
2000 won by a combined 111-21 - made semifinals
2003 won by a combined 134-28 - won NC
2005 won by a combined 111-77 - missed playoffs
2007 won by a combined 128-54 - NC runner-up
2010 won by a combined 86-9...
Fewest points scored, but fewest points allowed, by far. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing.

Pierce also becomes the first player in CAA Football history to earn weekly honors in three-straight weeks.

Yeah, I'm just not sure you can infer a whole lot from the stats. The one year they didn't make the playoffs though, the avearge margin of victory was 11, the other years it was 30, 35, 25 and this year 26. We'll know a whole lot more after the next two weeks.GannonFan wrote:Wait a minute, you're saying that Fact's post was actually, er, non-factual????89Hen wrote:I agree that it's too early to tell because they haven't gone on the road, and haven't played a CAA game yet, but since 2000, the Hens have started the season 3-0 four times before...

I was actually making reference to 2008 when you took a fairly decent Maryland team to the wire, smoked Dub C (easy to do, Villanova beat them 64-0 in 1997 despite the game being called at half,) barely lost to Furman (at Furman) and then destroyed what turned out to be an okay Albany team. Then the truth came out that you guys were utterly impotent on offense.89Hen wrote:Yeah, I'm just not sure you can infer a whole lot from the stats. Seriously? I was kinda giving you a pass in showing that one year the Hens in fact did start 3-0 but missed the playoffs, but what are you talking about in 2008? The offense was completely inept from the Maryland opener. A 2-2 start compared to 3-0?Fact wrote:I was actually making reference to 2008 when you took a fairly decent Maryland team to the wire, smoked Dub C (easy to do, Villanova beat them 64-0 in 1997 despite the game being called at half,) barely lost to Furman (at Furman) and then destroyed what turned out to be an okay Albany team. This year we have this:Fact wrote:I was actually making reference to 2008 when you took a fairly decent Maryland team to the wire, smoked Dub C (easy to do, Villanova beat them 64-0 in 1997 despite the game being called at half,) barely lost to Furman (at Furman) and then destroyed what turned out to be an okay Albany team. Yeah. That Maryland game was maddening. The Terps were begging us to beat them and we could not move the ball at all. That was the game where nobody knew what to expect from Schoenhoft and you just cringed once you found out. Our offense was DOA that year. 2008: The year of the converted QB by committee. I still can't look back at it and laugh... yet.89Hen wrote:Fact wrote:We've seen Delaware teams in the past look good against cupcakes only to fall flat on their face.Seriously? Agreed - it was obvious from the second half of that opening game against Maryland that we didn't have much of an offense. And heck, the Furman game was just a litany of QB turnovers. If you had to wait until CAA play to figure out that we didn't have an offense in '08 then you just really didn't know what to look for. Never fear, though, we have a QB this year. And now all of a sudden a guy who could make us forget about Omar Cuff as well as a pretty good defense as well. This ain't '08 (hey, that's pretty catchy!).89Hen wrote:Fact wrote:We've seen Delaware teams in the past look good against cupcakes only to fall flat on their face.Seriously?
