Lamar - 3
SFA - 71
Another score run up by SFA.
Love em or hate em (pretty easy to do right now), they're a top 5 team IMO. I wish they sucked, but they don't.

It was 43-3 and Moses was still in the game throwing for TD's. That's right. That's not running up the score.sfajack05 wrote:our starters were out by the middle of the third quarter and we've been running it since.

Dane fan---When it was 44-3 and Moses was still in the game there was still 11+ minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. He did come out later in the 3rd and SFA did not throw a single pass in the 4th. They tried to huddle and looked totally lost doing so and ran the ball every down on offense.
Moses came out at 57-3 with maybe 4+ minutes left in 3rd. Personally I would have removed him sooner to avoid the chance of injury. Also if you saw any of the game, Lamar QB left injured, they had zero offense and flat quit trying overall. If SFA had intended to run up a score they certainly had every chance to do so.

I didn't think we could hold them under 50. We had our chances. TD called back on a penalty and then stopped on 4th and 1 on goaline in same series in the 1st Quarter. Had a 65 yard TD on interception in the 4th called back on a penalty too. Our defense played tough and offense showed signs of life. I'm starting to have hope for the rest of the season.

Cal Poly leads McNeese 38-7 with some sort of delay going on in the second half.
That, coupled with the SFA/Lamar score, seems to indicate the Cowboys aren't too good this year.

Re: Week 4 Score Thread
Up 41 with the whole second halfto play. Did they think Lamar was going to come back from this?....padding stats is what it looks like to me. Hello....you were ahead by 54 with 19 minutes to play. For Christ's sake, UH took their starting QB out way before that...and he was a Heisman candidate! I think you guys have a warped view of sportsmanship....or your coach does.AustinTxLumberjack wrote:Dane fan---When it was 44-3 and Moses was still in the game there was still 11+ minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. Re: Week 4 Score Thread
If Lamar didn't want SFA to score 71 then they should have stopped them. Its a damn game. This isn't freaking tiddlywinks. If people are going to get their feelings hurt then go watch a damn chess match. I'm tired of people calling SFA classless because we played the game for the entire four quarters. If they were using trick plays and crap like that then that would be different. SFA ran their offense. SFA is a throwing team. How are the reserves supposed to get experience in our offense by just handing the ball off? The game is four quarters and you play four quarters. Because Lamar gave up SFA is the bad guys?
And why is it when other teams have put up 70+ against 1-AA teams this year its ok but when SFA does its classless? Do they get a pass because they are 1-A teams? If so that's crap. I haven't seen one post about Ohio State or Michigan or whoever putting up 70+ against their team calling them classless.

I've been following this game for longer than you've been alive and, obviously, any further attempt to try and explain this to you would be a waste of time.....I'm done here.

Re: Week 4 Score Thread
During the Paul Johnson era at GSU I watched team after team be absolutely dismantled by the GSU juggarnaut offense... so much so that Adrian Peterson didn't see the field in the second half in 11 (that's a whole season and he STILL had over 9k career rushing yards) games of his career because PJ wouldn't run the score up more than necessary.
I also watched entire second halves where GSU only ran FB dive plays to shorten the games and hold things down as there were a handful of times PJ could have had 80-90+ points easily if he hadn't been the class act he is.
I sat in Paulson Stadium in Sept 2001 and watched PJ pull his starters and MOL sit on the ball in the second half as a obvious sign of respect to Tubby Raymond who brought a rebuilding team in to Statesboro to face the defending back to back national champs in his final year. That's class.
The object of the game is to win and teach life values to college students. I haven't seen SFA so I can't comment one way or another if the second part of that mission is occuring but I can say I don't think I ever heard anybody accusing Paul Johnson, Erk Russell, Jim Tressel, and Jerry Moore of running up scores or not demonstrating anything but class in their programs- and boys, those are the four best coaches in the division since the division went to a playoff format so take it for what it is worth.

Re: Week 4 Score Thread
Excellent post from our friend in Statesboro. I've always believed that you score as much and as often as you can in the first half, regardless of the opponent. Put the game away early. Does that mean you need to be running trick plays against an over-matched team? No, and sometimes you don't even run half your playbook. But you still show no mercy. If you are leading 48-3 at the half, pull the #1's unless you have a guy or two who's been down and you want him to get some confidence. Let your 2's and 3's run a toned down offense in the 3rd and then really pull them back in the 4th. If you are up by 50 or more and still passing the ball, then something is wrong. I don't care if you've got the waterboy at QB and he really wants to throw his first TD, you don't do it. Run the ball up the middle and burn clock.
Now, all this goes away if the losing coach calls time outs at the end of the game. Then, you throw and score again.
