Re: Why Coastal Carolina?
I agree with the no real rivalries comment. I'd say right Liberty and SBU would be the biggest rivals after last year. But really I wouldn't even consider that a rival. After such a close if JMU and Liberty continue to play each other (which they do next year AT Liberty) I'd say JMU is really our only "rival." But as far as the BS is concerned there's really no rival...I think the CSU game would be close if it was at CSU but seeing how we have them at home and I think our atmosphere with this new stadium will probably be unmatched in the Big South I'd put a GOOD amount of money on Liberty if I were a bettn' man. As far as our toughest game in conference this year, I'd say it's close between Coastal (since we play there) and SBU (obviously we have something to prove with them this year)

We play Coastal this weekend. What should we know about them going into the game?

I'm in agreement with elcid that I am still hopeful we can break our long drought against CCU, our last win in the series was in 2003, but all the games outside of the 2006 debacle have been close.
What's more discouraging to me is to read in the local paper how Patton might have wanted to blame traffic and jet-lag for our poor performance at Sam Houston. Jet lag? Traveling west to the central time zone? Patton should know better since he goes to Vegas so much.
As for the conference, it is an absolute crap shoot, so G-W has just a good a chance as anyone. The big downside in this is that the auto-bid team will definitely play in that prelim round.

Offense is kinda make or break, big plays or nothing. Defense came out and got punched in the mouth but responded well. If the defense that started playing after being down 20-0 is the defense you guys can have all the time, you'll do well. But I have a feeling that UR fell asleep with the lead rather than CCU being this good, but props to the CCU defense for keeping them in it.

And then the Chants fall apart. What a collapse. Not a very impressive showing there.

Since you were only stirring shit with this thread, I figured I'd stir it right back.
Now, seriously, beat Stony Brook by a lot.

Hey, I'm eating my crow. We didn't come prepared, and your boys had the offense dialed up just right to pick apart our terrible defense.
