Was impressive in the spring, particularly in ASU’s annual spring scrimmage, where he ran for 73 yards on 16 carries ... will battle incumbent top-three running backs Kevin Richardson, Devon Moore and Robert Welton for carries in the fall.

2006: Appeared in just one game, rushing once for 10 yards in 41-0 win over Mars Hill.

2005: Redshirted.

High School: Three-year letterwinner at Gastonia Forestview H.S. ... two-time all-conference and all-county honoree ... rushed for 1,600-plus yards over final two prep seasons, including over 900 yards en route to team’s Offensive Player of the Year accolades ... recognized as region’s Player of the Week numerous times ... coached by Scott Lee ... also lettered in track and field four years.

Brandon Utterback is a talented player who is working hard for an opportunity to play.

2006: He saw limited action and had one carry for nine yards against McNeese State.

2005: He redshirted at UM.

High school: He rushed for 1,915 yards as a senior at Fort Benton High School, making him Montana's all-time leading rusher in 11-man football with 4,679 career yards...he also returned kickoffs and punts and had 7,422 all-purpose yards...he was a two-time Great Falls Tribune “Super State” pick...chosen for Montana's East-West Shrine Game, the Montana-Dakota All-Star game, and the Big Sky Athletic Journal “Offensive Player of the Year”...a four-year starter at both running back and linebacker...a two-time first team all-state selection...rushed for 210 yards in the Class “B” state championship game against Baker, which Fort Benton lost 22-15...he rushed for 100 or more yards in 22 games...football team captain as a senior...high school football coach was Kevin Smith...one of the top sprinters in the state but hampered by injuries.

Personal: His major is pre-pharmacy. His parents are Brad and Sue Utterback of Fort Benton. His older brother, Loren(37), is a senior linebacker at Montana. Brandon was a 4.0 student in high school.
