[FCS Update]

Figured it was time for me to go over this again:

X Southern Illinois 9-2 7-1 – Definitely wrong on this one. Currently at 3-6, 2-4 in conf. I think that the two 3 point losses to SEMO and YSU early in the season really hurt them. If they win those two we might have seen them carry some momentum into the conference season.

Y Northern Iowa 9-2 7-1 – Not too far off with the Panthers if they win out. I thought they would beat Iowa State or Stephen F Austin, and they really should've gotten the win at home over SFA. SIU was the loss I picked, and they really could've taken that win home as well. Their season would be at-risk right now had they taken one of those.

Y Illinois State 9-2 6-2 – Another oops. ISU decides if they want a winning season on Saturday against Eastern Illinois. ISU's weakness was definitely their defense. With the exception of FBS opponent Northwestern, ISU's offense put up at least 14 points per game. None of their losses were all that close and they easily could've had three more losses.

Z North Dakota State 7-4 5-3 – No one bought this, but the Bison can still finish 8-3. This weekend against the Jacks looms large. In the beginning of the season I think I picked the Bison. Now I'm torn.

South Dakota State 6-5 5-3 – The Jacks have to win out to finish with this record. I thought Jack fans were going to put a horse's head in my bed after reading this in the preseason. Maybe next year cooler heads will prevail.

Youngstown State 6-5 4-4 – The Penguins have had a rough season and need a win and SIU to lose the next two in order to avoid a last place finish(although tied for 8th isn't much better). They've lost 6 games by ten or less with an average point spread of 5.5 pts in those 6 losses. This team was a few plays a game from being 9-1 at this point. Wow.

Indiana State 3-8 1-7 – Indiana State has 3 conf wins. Wow. They could still end up with two more. Had their two OOC wins been over a D-I school (PFL even) then they would be in the at-large playoff discussion.

Western Illinois 2-9 1-7 – Did anyone see this coming? Could finish anywhere from 8-3 to 6-5.

Missouri State 1-10 1-7 - Better than I thought. Add to that 2 OT losses and MSU also could've been in the playoff discussion.

If YSU had a defense just half as bad as the one we have now, we could have at least 4 more wins.. Of course, woulda, coulda, shoulda... ugh.
