It's not a trophy, it's a carriage. It's a rivalry tradition, something EWU knows nothing about.
What rivalry does EWU have? Hmmm.... Even if they did have some sort of "trophy" to award the winning team of their rivalry game, it would probably be a bloody tampon in celebration of the Pad (the red field).
Sure, Sac has never had the pleasure of winning the conference, but their year will come. Is that supposed to be some sort of smack talk, stating the obvious or commonly known facts regarding the conference.
If it looks like a cow, smells like a cow, and moo's like a cow, it's a UC Davis coed.
Weber and Idaho State compete in the Border War, but with no trophy.
Weber, USU, BYU, and Utah compete for the Old Oquirrh Bucket in Hoops, but they are retiring it because Utah doesnt want to play anybody but BYU anymore
I wish Weber had a rival and competed for something cool like a trophy, Maybe when Weber and SUU start playing they could call it the CIvil War (north vs south) and fight for something like the Golden Spike Trophy or something
There's a reason that the bowl is called "red beans and rice" bowl...it's a giant fundraiser for the Rice Depot, Arkansas biggest charitable organization to feed the hungry! Louisiana also has a need and farms that raise endless amounts of rice...the red beans is a tribute to their contribution to the meals!
The Rice Depot distributes over 7 million pounds of food each year
We feed as much as 15% of the state’s population
With a small staff of 15, more than 98% of budget is spent on purchasing and distributing food
We serve over 300 pantries in all 75 counties in Arkansas – the only statewide foodbank network
When I heard that as many as 125,000 kids in Arkansas went hungry nightly, giving to this organization was a no-brainer. The bowl is a great way to raise money and food donations for the cause.

We have permanent possession of the Carriage now since it was starting to fall apart (it has since been repaired) and davis didn't actually want to have it transported to their campus. The Carriage is featured during Homecoming Week now and other special university events.
The official trophy for the football game is now the Caltrans' Yolo Causeway Classic Cement trophy.

To honor their Mormon heritage, perhaps the winning coach could marry a 12 yr old......
App St-WCU winner gets the jug & one of the following: a night out with their sister or another tooth.....

i remember when we cooked up that trophy (and by we, I mean one guy in particular on the student senate who cooked it up with his buddies over many beers at the Turf) in 03 when we knew the rivalry with und was coming to an end - not a bad little trophy if i do say

Got one cooked up for USD yet, or will that take a few (quite a few) more beers at the Turf?

The Red Beans and Rice Trophy was "cooked" up by the McNeese and UCA fans online on their fans messageboards a few years ago. Somehow the schools found out about it, liked the idea, and ran with it.
