Dude I love you. Where were you all season?!
[quote="bucs90"]HAHA!!! You upset? "Why are you even talking to us?" huh? Well, that sums up the attitude of 99% of Liberty fans. You guys think you are on a throne overlooking the rest of the Big South. You guys, students also, think your sh** dont stink. I notice you stopped your backwards trend at 06, as to not include the 2005 loss LU had @ CSU. So, from 2000-2009, Liberty lost 20% of their games vs CSU. Not good stat for CSU. But worse for LU when you consider the massive imbalance in resources of those two programs. You guys should NEVER lose to us, much less even have a close game. But you do.[quote]
Not upset at all. I just find it funny to see CSU fans talking trash. If you want to we can go back to 1993 when the series started. We're 15-2. I'll take that any day of the week. Against any team.
Yes we do, but that is very recent. As recently as 2005 we had a dump compared to the rest of FCS.
Our school is only 39 years old. We don't have that "huge" of an alumni base. Yes, we have a large student body, but just a few years ago that student body was half the size it is now. I'm not sure what football history you are talking about. We haven't done much of anything until the last 4 years. 5 years ago we hired a legit Athletic Director. Prior to him Dr. Falwell was the de facto athletic director. He finally realized that wouldn't cut it at D1. We also hired Mr. Rocco. Since that time we made a quick 180 and have risen to the cream of the crop of this conference. We've lost 4 conference games in 5 years. What other teams, in any conference, has done that? And since we've decided to focus and invest in football we have won the Big South championsip every single year.
Yep, and then we decided to invest in our program, and have rightly won more conference championships than anyone else in the conference (tied with Coastal).
No probably, DEFINITELY.
Get out of here with that garbage, we didn't exist until '71.
Not "deserving." Our founder has always set the goal for us to be 1A. He said that in a press conference when he started the school back in 1971. So, yes we think we will be 1A one day, but none of our fans think we are "deserving."

I don't see how an 8-win team with an FBS win that averages over 5 TDs a game and has a +179 point differential gets snubbed.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Re: Big South shocker: CCU home playoff game, HAHA @ Liberty
Hmmm.
I think some still don't get the idea behind my op.
It's that it is really funny to laugh at all the arrogant LU fans who in the preseason basically spoke as if Liberty was = Virginia Tech. How when it was, how dare we, proposed that possibly someone OTHER than Liberty may win the Big South auto-bid, it was recieved by LU fans as if we had committed an offense equal to spray painting on Howards Rock at Clemson.
LU fans said that Stony Brook and CSU would have no shot at all, despite that both tied for 2nd place in 2009, and CSU only lost by 1 TD to Liberty. While also noting Coastal is always a contender in this league.
Never did I say LU wasn't good. They are a GREAT 1-AA team. I'm saying it's funny watching their fans have to eat humble pie now that Coastal is hosting the BSC's 1st home playoff game after an offseason full of so much smack talk about how Liberty was too good for the BSC. How Liberty's move to 1-A was inevitable, and their time in the BSC was like purgatory until then.
The post was never about talking trash from a "CSU is better" point of view. CSU is the obvious underdog in this league. Worst facilities, worst football history. But we do overachieve and play above ourselves often, which is why I got even harsher when a Liberty fan said CSU should go back to D3 "where they belong".
Oh, and JCManson, I liked the laughing smiley face you put up regarding my statement that CSU has a freshman QB that is gonna blow up in this league. Yeah, he took some tough ones this season, but also played very well vs some others (Kentucky, PC). And I can understand you laughing about that idea. Kinda like how people laughed in 2003 at our true freshman QB Colin Drafts, who got pouned in a 1-11 2003 season. Hmmmmm. I think he went on to do some pretty great things in the Big South. Our next Colin Drafts just finished his freshman season. But I'm sure Liberty wont face him by 2012. They'll get the ACC/SEC invite they so righteously deserve. Their fans told me so themselves.

Re: Big South shocker: CCU home playoff game, HAHA @ Liberty
My opinion is Wofford and South Carolina St got the two at large bids that Liberty would've had a shot at. They wouldn't put another mid-atlantic area at large in with Wofford and SC State in. And for what it's worth, I dont think Liberty would beat either of those teams.SuperHornet wrote:I don't see how an 8-win team with an FBS win that averages over 5 TDs a game and has a +179 point differential gets snubbed.

Re: Big South shocker: CCU home playoff game, HAHA @ Liberty
I'm not talking trash, I'm laughing at the Liberty fans who talked uber trash in the offseason and much of the regular season, in a way that would have some thinking God himself had deemed LU as the Big South's autobid, and now Coastal not only got it, but got a home game!!!jcmanson wrote:Not upset at all. Sure, go back to 1993. We were NON SCHOLARSHIP til 1995. Then had 35 scholarships til 2002. Compared to LU's 65 the entire time, plus massive advantages in facilities and resources, it's a miracle the CSU teams of 95-2002 were even able to make a game of it. And in fact, the beat LU in 2000 by 25-0, lost a heartbreaker in OT to LU in 1998, and had a few other competitive matches with a team that was fully funded, while CSU was basically a D2 team playing D1. 2003-present, yeah, CSU is 65 scholarship now.
But this thread was never about trying to claim CSU was a better program than Liberty. They are not, never have been, and probably never will be. It was about laughing at arrogant LU fans who thought they had God's blessing behind them to the autobid, talked down to other teams that dared dream they might have a chance.
And now, both CSU fans and LU fans alike will be watching from their couches as Coastal gets a home playoff game. And I am rooting for Coastal, b/c their coaches, players and fans have always been very classy, very confident, but never arrogant.

Okay, don't exaggerate what we said. Just because you thought LU fans were over confident, doesn't mean anyone said we were as good as VPI.bucs90 wrote: It's that it is really funny to laugh at all the arrogant LU fans who in the preseason basically spoke as if Liberty was = Virginia Tech.

villanova has to beat SFA. its like 600 minimum just to fly to shreveport and then 90 miles to drive to sfa, how do people get there
cause if we beat wiu and then app we would play villa/sfa
nvm you can fly to houston for 200 round trip then drive 3 hours there

I'm with Coastal - good luck representing our Conference. As fo arrogance out of Virginia-it has been there since July.ToTheLeft wrote:Okay, don't exaggerate what we said. Well, a lot of it came to pass when SBU, who also showed a lot of "arrogance" (since apparently thinking your team will win is arrogance) coming down to Lynchburg, got beat down by the Flames.Seawolf97 wrote:I'm with Coastal - good luck representing our Conference. I agree, good luck to CCU.
and this LU fan ate his crow over losing to CCU. But it's not like we laid an egg for the season, we've got a 4-peat going. Don't act like we've fallen. We've lost twice in conference over 4 seasons, both on the road to Co-Champs of the league. Some LU fans thoughts about the Big South "holding us back" are a bit weak, but to say LU is anything OTHER than the favorite and the class of this league right now is just not accurate. LU, CCU, and SBU are a 3 horse race going forward, but LU is the favorite. That's not arrogance, it's fact. And when the preseason polls come out, it'll show once again as fact. Doesn't mean we'll win without even stepping on the field next year, it just means we're the favorite.

I'll be looking forward to being a relevant part of this kind of conversation in the future, if the G-W administration will nut up and give Patton his walking papers, it may be sooner than much later.

Re: Big South shocker: CCU home playoff game, HAHA @ Liberty
Right now, as in the last 3 years or so, yeah, LU has been the best program and the "class" of the league. You've had a handful of fantastic players, especially offense, that have made that happen. But some (maybe or maybe not yourself) seemed to think Liberty was the permanent top of this league forever, or until LU moved on to where they seemed to think they belong, in 1-A or the SoCon or whatever.ToTheLeft wrote:Well, a lot of it came to pass when SBU, who also showed a lot of "arrogance" (since apparently thinking your team will win is arrogance) coming down to Lynchburg, got beat down by the Flames.Seawolf97 wrote: I'm with Coastal - good luck representing our Conference. But these things run in cycles, just like in all football conferences. And in my honest opinion, a blind pick on what team would win the Big South in any given year would nod towards Coastal. Why? Well, facilities and money win in recruiting, and the college that recruits best wins most usually. And Coastal, unlike LU, CSU, GWU, VMI, does not have the religious/military restrictions that might scare off some recruits. And Coastal has in fact done extremely well in this league.
But anyhow, my whole point was to show some LU fans that their level of arrogance in the preseason and regular season seems to have backfired. And with a couple of your most talented players set to graduate, who knows, in 2012 LU may be looking up at 2-3 other BSC teams in the standings. Probably not. But who knows.

Re: Big South shocker: CCU home playoff game, HAHA @ Liberty
Gardner Webb has been a mystery to me also. When they came in in 2002, they dominated. Still a solid team, and beat CSU this year, but the GWU tradition is very good, several NFL players have come from there. But most of all, GWU sits smack in the middle of some of the best recruiting country in the South, the upper state of SC. I remember when GWU was a magnet for any players from Gaffney, Spartanburg, Union areas that didn't go 1-A.g-webb1994 wrote:I'll be looking forward to being a relevant part of this kind of conversation in the future, if the G-W administration will nut up and give Patton his walking papers, it may be sooner than much later.
Maybe in a few years the new North Greenville coach, Chadwell, will end up at GWU. He's a former East Tenn St player, former CSU assistant when they won the BSC in 05, and he took NGC to a 9-3 record and Victory Bowl champs. A few more seasons like that at NGC, and he'll be a name some may be going after.

Stupid ass yankees! Haha!! Season is over now man, we all gotta root for the Big South rep to bring our conference more respect. The better the BSC does, the better chance we'll have at at-larges in the future.bodoyle wrote:thanks guys./ Hope we can beat my brother's alma mater. Stupid ass leathernecks!

Re: Big South shocker: CCU home playoff game, HAHA @ Liberty
Not thinking a team will win, but being dismissive of other teams and speaking as if a team is too good for a particular conference, etc. App St fans dont seem to preach how they are too good for the SoCon for example. But many Liberty fans trash other BSC teams and speak as if it's almost an insult to still be in the BSC. Can't help but have a bit of humor when Coastal comes from the pack to win the auto-bid and get a home game.ToTheLeft wrote:Seawolf97 wrote:
