Basketball game probably doubles what you have show up to watch EWU on Saturday. I seem to remember hearing about how great MSU was at home and we all know how that turned out, I expect more of the same on Saturday. Only difference is they actaully have football fans in Bozeman and from what I hear they were great fans and even better hosts. When the Bison get done with RedTufCity they'll likely replace it with real turf and name the field after after the Bison because it will be like they owned it all along. Thanks for playin' BlackFalkin but it's all about to end.BlackFalkin wrote:Dont try to hop on the 'low attendance' sht. EWU is winning on Saturday & thats FINAL! Ladies & gentlemen, it's the Christmas Bowl! Did the greeting card companies pay Montana State to take a timely fourth-quarter dive just so we'd have a red vs. green matchup in the playoffs? You decide. NDSU wins the overall stats, but—as I've said before—EWU matches up well to running teams. I don't think the Bison QBs are good enough to win the game if they are put in that position.
Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

Thank you Mr. Chairman.Chairman of The Golden Arm Committee wrote:Its time for the qualtitative analysis to begin.
I happen to like what I think:
Quarterbacks -- Eastern Washington
Running Back - Eastern Washington. EWU has an all american in the backfield. NDSU will rotate 4 very good Running backs all day. Fresh legs at the right times = advantage NDSU BISON
Receivers - Eastern Washington? No Push. if there is an advantage its mighty slim. DJ McNorton picks up a lot of all purpose yds because he is a good receiver. We have a couple capable wide-outs.
TEs - NDSU
Offensive Line - NDSU
Defensive Line - North Dakota St.
Linebackers --- NDSU. 1 all american does not turn the tide. NDSU has 5 excellent LBs that have been stifiling all season and are at the peak of their game now.
Secondary ---- North Dakota St.
Kicking ------ (push)
Punting ------ North Dakota St.
Return Teams - NDSU. We have a couple excellent return men.
Kickoffs ------ North Dakota St.
Gil is right that the winner is to be determined. But the winner is being predicted right now:
NDSU BISON by 5. The scoring differential is in favor of NDSU and misconceptions about the potential of the passing game are going to result in several failed analyses for the EWU fans. Your weak secondary is going to be the downfall. Our strong D Line/aggressive secondary will stall the EWU offense.
The BISON are the best team EWU has faced on their turf this season.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

from the EWU Board:
FCS THIRD ROUND: (21) NORTH DAKOTA STATE AT (1) EASTERN WASHINGTON
Kickoff: Saturday, Dec. 11, 3:30 p.m. ET
Facts & Figures: Site: Roos Field (8,600) -- Cheney, Washington. Surface: Red Sprinturf. Television: ESPN Game Plan and North Dakota NBC Sports Network. Announcers: Trey Bender, Jon Berger. Home Record: North Dakota State 6-1; Eastern Washington 6-0. Away Record: North Dakota State 3-3; Eastern Washington 3-2. Neutral Record: North Dakota State 0-0; Eastern Washington 1-0. Series Record: First meeting. Conference: North Dakota State - Missouri Valley; Eastern Washington - Big Sky. Nicknames: North Dakota State Bison; Eastern Washington Eagles. Sports Network/Fathead.com Ranking: North Dakota State (21); Eastern Washington (1). Head Coaches: North Dakota State - Craig Bohl (61-29 at North Dakota State and Overall); Eastern Washington - Beau Baldwin (24-11 at Eastern Washington and 34-14 Overall). All-Time Record: North Dakota State (613-362-34); Eastern Washington (473-391-23). Playoff Records: North Dakota State (2-0); Eastern Washington (6-7). Previous FCS Playoff Appearances: North Dakota State 0; Eastern Washington 7 (1985, 92, 97, 2004-05, 07, 09).
What to know: North Dakota State pulled off an impressive road victory over Montana State last week to advance to the quarterfinals.
Trailing 17-14 early in the first quarter, the Bison scored four consecutive times in the eventual 42-17 victory. D.J. McNorton ran for a school-record 207 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. He was most effective in crunch time, rushing for 163 yards and all four of his touchdowns in the second half.
As a team, the Bison rushed 46 times for a season-high 376 yards, while completing just 5-of-19 passes for 56 yards. Jose Mohler completed 3-of-11 passes but had 48 rushing yards and Brock Jensen completed 2-of-6 passes but tallied 28 rushing yards and a touchdown. Jensen suffered a slight concussion and left the game.
Given North Dakota State's poor performances on the road this season, it was crucial that the Bison pressure quarterback Denarius McGhee and win the turnover battle. They did both. Five different players recorded sacks in the game, while Preston Evans and Daniel Eaves both had fumble recoveries, and Marcus Williams and John Pike each recorded interceptions.
On the year, the Bison have forced 32 turnovers (No. 5 FCS). Evans leads the team with 90 tackles, while Eaves has 70 tackles and three interceptions. The Bison rank No. 7 in the FCS in scoring defense (16.6 ppg), which is predicated upon winning the turnover battle. They rank just No. 83 in rushing defense (167.1 ypg) and No. 46 in passing defense (192.6 ypg).
The win over Montana State was North Dakota State's first playoff road win since Nov. 25, 2000, and the Bison will face another stiff test on Saturday when they travel to Cheney, Wash,, to face the Eastern Washington Eagles.
The Eagles, the No. 1 team in the country, dispatched Southeast Missouri State with relative ease last week to advance to the quarterfinals.
Not known for their defense, the Eagles held SEMO to just 26 yards of total offense in the second half en route to the 37-17 win. Entering the half tied at 17, EWU linebackers J.C. Sherritt (10 tackles) and Tyler Washburn (nine tackles) were pivotal in pitching a second-half shutout. The Redhawks' standout running back Henry Harris gained 108 yards in the contest, but only found paydirt once.
This matchup did play into the Eagles' hands. SEMO was a run-heavy team and the Eagles, led by Sherritt, are more effective against the run, allowing 131.1 rushing ypg (No. 36 FCS) as opposed to 262.1 passing ypg (No. 114 FCS).
The offense, which carries the team, was spurred forward by the usual suspects. Taiwan Jones ran for 168 yards and two touchdowns and Bo Levi Mitchell completed 21-of-34 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Nicholas Edwards caught eight passes for 65 yards and a TD.
North Dakota State knows something about home-field advantage. The Bison have gone 6-1 in the Fargodome this season and after last week's win, 3-3 on the road. They should be familiar with EWU's advantage. The Eagles hope to turn the red turf at Roos Field into the FCS' version of Boise State's Smurf Turf. So far they have succeeded. The Eagles are 6-0 at home this season.
The Bison found success last Saturday by, once again, winning the turnover battle. Freshman Denarius McGhee was baited into mistakes, but EWU quarterback and SMU transfer Mitchell is slightly more seasoned. If he stays turnover free (and that is a big if, considering the nature of the Bison defense), then EWU should be able to pull out the win.
Prediction: Eastern Washington, 35-24

No, no, no. You must not read Bisonville much. This game will clearly be won 64-7 by the Bison, and NDSU has more talent in every positional category, save QB. Kind of ironic, actually, since our QB play has been the one area that a few EWU fans have been the most critical with. I for one think it's been pretty solid......a few too many picks, but overall not bad at all.Dsthan wrote:As much as I would love to NDSU win this game I think it will be hard fought though the idea that NDSU lose the match between linebackers is a joke Evans has been tearing up the field especially in recent games. I think our biggest downfall has been our road games and Mohler managing to fumble the ball every time he tries to run and Jenson unable to be healthy for the majority of the season it seems. I feel that a big win over the other big sky co-champ sets us up for a good attack. Though I still feel that EWU will squeeze by at 24-21
As far as the lb's go, I honestly don't know enough about NDSU's to make the comparison. I know we have a first team All-American, but his numbers, tackles in particular, have been down this year due to the fact that we've had such solid play from the other lb's. They're a pretty good group.
I honestly have no idea how this one's going to play out. Too many unknowns. Traditionally, we've played some close ones against MVFC (Gateway) members, and I expect this one to be no different.
Like I said over on Bisonville - thanks for the friendly banter this week from the NDSU fans. Let's hope for a good, injury-free game and for anyone making the trip out to Washington, safe journeys.

Re: NDSU BISON* @ Eastern Washington University
I dont think I should give EWU more credit just to be nice. I have to call them as I see them.
NDSU is the best team EWU will play all year. They are better than UM and MSU. The BISON are better than UNC and Central Washington. Your home wins were against weak competition and NDSU won its FBS game. Here is a recap:
Three wins over 6-5 teams
One againsst a 1-10 team in a close matchup,
A victory over a 3-8 team in another hotly contested battle,
A big win over a 7-4 non-playoff team that struggled all year
A loss to probably the best team you played all year and a big loss too 30-7.
But don't forget the big rivalry win over the D2 by a FG.
The most impressive win: SEMO 37-17. NDSU beat MSU by a score of 42-17.
The BISON didnt compile the record they have because they are weak along the line and in the backfield. Both offense and defense play with vigor and smarts. Its a very physical team with all the speed and athleticism it needs to win. It has top notched, Division 1 FBS trained coaching staff, not lateral transfers or guys that learned on the job fresh out of D2 like most of the teams we play.
The fact that I have called this close shows a lot of respect for your team. Ive only seen the Eagles in action against SEMO but what I saw is reinforced by the overall record and SOS.
I gave NDSU the edge in most of those categories because the BISON played a much tougher schedule and won many of the big games. All were close.
I think tomorrow will be a great game. Everyone at NDSU is excited and confident about the game. All will be practicing the highest order of sportsmanship, as is our way. Our team, fans and followers are now fully focused on Cheney. This is going to be a game for the ages. All American #1 flash against the big unknown underdog from the North Country, the still great Heartland of this once great country.
Ps. Thanks for the tip UAH. I finally caught on to saving the posts!

Best team we've faced all year? Straight-up, you're one blatantly ignorant, biased sonofabitch. We played NEVADA. Even discounting the ranked Nevada team, NDSU still won't be the best team we'll have played this year. That will be App State.

I don't think...

Good luck to the Bison as well. Tomorrow can't get here soon enough. Drinkin' some rum and watching the UNH/UD game, then going to head over to Showies and mingle with the foe if some of your fans are still there.
GO EAGLES!!!!

A blank page in BISON LORE has been opened. The game tomorrow is stacking up as one for the books.
There is a feeling of nostalgia permeating BISON CITY. Its almost sad. We are in place. Our camps are set. But our camps are not as cohesive as they should be.
Right now the Team is resting soundly. They know they have had a good week. They have touched on and improved their game fundamentals. Tomorrow is the chance to execute a game plan that will bring The BISON to victory!!!
Here in the Great Heartland of this once great country lies the true spirit of football. The tradition was built on the parade ground south of Churchill Hall. It went to Dacotah field and now resides under the Fabulous Fargo Dome.
Thats where the answer was found: deep under the stands of the Legendary and Prestigious football venue. The mighty stadium stands dark against a cold winter sky. The legendary Dacotah Field stands dark as well. Both stand humble never to boast. Both stadiums want to bask in the warm glow of victory.
The fates are here. They are descending on BISON CITY. The HERD stands ready to take the field to victory for the "Old AC" !!!

Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
