Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
I think it'll be a decent crowd - 14k minimum. It'll look fine for TV for those who are concerned about that. UD will have a decent number there based on all accounts. Say 3k to 5k, although I think closer to the lower number. But I think the locals will represent pretty well.

More than who showed up for the DII and DIII football championships that were on ESPN.
More than who will show up for the Womens Volleyball championships on ESPN.
More than who show up for the bowling tournaments they show every weekend on ESPN.
More than who show up for to 75% of the NCAA men's basketball games that they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for the Bass fishing tournaments they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for the skateboarding competitions they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for the lacrosse games they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for the BMX competitions they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for the Pop Warner Championships they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for some of the MLB baseball games they show on ESPN.
More than who show up for the skateboarding competitions they show on ESPN.
I would list more, but I'm late for an appointment.
If they get 10,000 that would be better than the average attendence for all of FCS. That would be a great number! It would also be better than the average attendence for the playoffs.
What do you people expect?

17,025 was the average for the 13 years it was in Chattanooga. I think Frisco should average more than that for the next 3 years if they want to keep it.BearIt wrote:

Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
Unless Chatty greatly inflates the # that they're willing to put out to host the NC game...it ain't coming back. The committee said more than once this year they were losing $$ on the postseason & before Frisco came into the picture they had explored changing the format. I know the Southern Conference schools & its fans are upset it left, but it may have left for good....Skjellyfetti wrote:17,025 was the average for the 13 years it was in Chattanooga. Apparently Chattanooga did a shitty job. They averaged 30,071 over the 5 years it was in Marshall.

Marshall was in it 4 of the 5 years and the year they weren't, YSU was. Hmmm... keep it close to where at least one of the teams is and attendance is good. Imagine that.BearIt wrote:Apparently Chattanooga did a shitty job. They averaged 30,071 over the 5 years it was in Marshall.

So, where is the geographic center of the CAA?89Hen wrote:Marshall was in it 4 of the 5 years and the year they weren't, YSU was. Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
I hope you're right about the locals. I was thinking on the high side of that for UD, and 1 to 2K from EWU. The high side of both gives you 7,000. That means we need another 7K to get to 14K. But I think you're right that at that number, it will look fine for TV.GannonFan wrote:I think it'll be a decent crowd - 14k minimum. It'll look fine for TV for those who are concerned about that. I'm fine with that. Seems like Virginia would be a pretty good location.93henfan wrote: So, where is the geographic center of the CAA?

Or 15,774 for the non-App State years
Or 14,479 for non-ASU/GSU years
At least top the 14,281 that watched Delaware-Colgate in 2003.

Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
#1 - I don't care what Frisco has to offer, there are at least a dozen warm weather cities that should host the NC game instead. There has to be something else to do other than watch the game during your stay. I can't see Frisco cutting it.
#2 - The attendance will be 27,258 locals + 3500 UD fans + 1700 EWU fans + 580 FCS fans - 19782 ODU fans = 13,256.
Noteworthy: The Frisco minor league baseball team's name is the Frisco Roughriders. Does anyone else see the humor in that?
From a Frisco website:
Attractions: Frisco is home to one of the largest, private collections of contemporary sculpture art. Come to Hall Office Park to visit the Texas Sculpture Garden , a magnificent collection of indoor and outdoor art.

The primary issue of course being that none of the dozen or so cities you refer to actually put together a BID PROPOSAL for the game.CAA Flagship wrote: I don't care what Frisco has to offer, there are at least a dozen warm weather cities that should host the NC game instead.
The decision was between Frisco and Chattanooga. Frisco provided a superior proposal.

I hear Qatar is lovely this time of the year, and they do excellent bid work.

Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG

The park seats 21,193. I just checked for tickets and the best available are section 104, which is about on the 35 to 40 yard line. Looks like those sections can handle about 1k per section. I would say probably 6k sold so far. I would think 12-15k should do it. Give it time to grow...more than 15k would be a home run.
If UMass does join the MAC, maybe in a couple of years the Pizza Hut Park will also host a bowl game, and UMass can play there against San Jose St, with both team records at 6-6 in the Rodney Dangerfield bowl. I am semi excited about the move, but it's going to be a long process. (I'm looking at Marshall's experience.)
