I don't know the details of that event but I had heard a story or two about not getting the film...screaming at a student...I don't support that at all...the question I have is...did our film reach the UNI coaches on time and if so...what was the hold up on their end?
This is a high pressure job...people lose their cool...especially when facing that '07 UNI team in the Dome...I think KC has toned it down a lot...if nothing else '08 and '09 were eye openers and changed his perspective on many things.

Yeah, cry baby Farley whined and cried about snow in Newark in December of 2003 when UD did an excellent job of making the Tub playable for a playoff game.
In his press conference Farley also said that had the game been played at the Dome the result would have been different. Cry baby Farley refused to admit what was obvious to anyone that the 2003 UD/UNI matchup was an absolute ass whuppin. Of course the dumb UNI homers took up the cry of "Wait till we get you in the dome". This happenned in 2007. Now the UNI homers have to trash Keeler for anything because they can't beat him.
UD against teams currently in the MVFC 16-1.
When are you guys going to show us real Midwest smash mouth football? You keep talking about it but the only mouth that gets smashed is yours when you guys play us.

Re: All Things Keeler
The debacle happened after the game. Keeler wanted UNI's film from our game with Southern Illinois (UD's next opponent) and lost his cool when he didn't get it. My understanding is that UNI followed NCAA protocol and Keeler wanted them to bypass the protocol because of the issues with the weather. I don't blame him for wanting to make productive use of the team's time while they were stuck in Heaven, that was a smart thing to do. But he shouldn't take his frustrations out on a student. He's a very visible representative of the University of Delaware and that doesn't reflect well on the University or him. As I mentioned earlier, if the circumstance dictate, I'm willing to give him a chance to show me he's a different person than he demonstrated in that instance but I doubt if he cares.HenZoneNation wrote:I don't know the details of that event but I had heard a story or two about not getting the film...screaming at a student...I don't support that at all...the question I have is...did our film reach the UNI coaches on time and if so...what was the hold up on their end?

I'm not sure the playing surface was the issue. If memory serves, the UNI team spent more than 24 hours in airplanes and airports (and I believe on a bus) to get to Newark and arrived shortly before the game. UNI probably wasn't at its most competitive under those circumstances but those are the breaks when you're the visitor. And yes the 2003 game was an ass whuppin, regardless of the impact of the weather.blukeys wrote:Yeah, cry baby Farley whined and cried about snow in Newark in December of 2003 when UD did an excellent job of making the Tub playable for a playoff game.
You're allowed to your negative opinion of Farley and I'm allowed to my negative opinion of Keeler. They're opinions, neither one is fact.

KC represent the University very well and as to his arrogance, well 3 NC games in 8 years give you some rights in that area and secondly I can think of 2 CAA head coaches alone with less humility than KC.
He bleeds Blue Hen blue and would die before he embarrassed UD or the football coaching legacy and tradition he inherited. Remember he's only the 3rd UD Head Coach since 1951 and you can bet that factors into his decision making.

It was not a NCAA protocol. it was a Gateway Conference rule that would have been violated. Since UD is not a member of the Gateway Conference Keeler was unaware of the rule. I have been a coach and I might have lost my cool in the same circumstance. KC wanted to break down some film as opposed to doing nothing waiting for a plane flight.UNI88 wrote: The debacle happened after the game. Cry baby Farley complained about EVERYTHING. He then went on to say that had the game been played in the dome the result would have been different. This was pure insanity. The 2003 UD team would have beaten the 2003 UNI team if they played in Rio de Janeiro during the middle of Carnival.
Farley obviously had no objectivity. This of course did not stop the local midwest media from printing his inaccuracies and for the UNI faithful for repeating the mantra that the result would have been different had the game been played in the dome.
That stupid assessment was made by a couple of UNI posters still here.

If what your saying is true, the Gateway rule was communicated to Keeler, who still lost his cool like a little rag bitch. Unlike Keeler (corrupt, slackjawed, razor-haired FBS lockerroom troll) Farley is a stand up guy.
Shit I bet Keeler is San Fran right now recruiting Andrew Luck.

KC might represent the university well overall but in that instance he did not. And that instance left an indelible impression of the true nature of Keeler's character on a lot of UNI fans. I could give 2 shits about other coaches in the CAA, we're talking about Keeler here. And 8 NC games in 8 years doesn't give you the right to be an azz to a student of another university. An azz is still an azz regardless of the number of NC games they've taken their teams to.jd of de wrote:KC represent the University very well and as to his arrogance, well 3 NC games in 8 years give you some rights in that area and secondly I can think of 2 CAA head coaches alone with less humility than KC.

Geesh, I knew D1B was a little girl, but I never realized a lot of UNI fans were such whiny bitches. "Oh, KC yelled at a student", "oh, it was cold and students were throwing snowballs", "oh, our flight was delayed and we only got 8 hours of sleep as opposed to our normal 9 hours of sleep before the game". Seriously, start handing in your man cards. Thank God Lehigh went out there and put you guys out of your misery - if this is the level of excuse making and whining that comes from two butt whuppings in the playoffs from 4 and 7 years ago, I shudder to think what you guys would've come up with after the trifecta of playoff drubbings that would've been this year. I mean, I think we've all seen how soft UNI has been on the field of late, I just didn't realize it extended into the stands as well.

So it's ok for Keeler to bitch and whine about a situation but if Farley complains he's a "Cry baby"? Keeler's the f'ing coach, it's his and his staff's job to know the rules and the protocol. If they don't know about it and are informed about it they should STFU and stop whining to the media. This could have died away into nothing but Keeler made the situation worse by continuing to whine like a cry baby.blukeys wrote:Farley complained about the field and some dumb students throwing snowballs (they were throwing them at each other and not players.)

An for the record, I was not one of the UNI posters that made that assessment. That was a hell of a UD team and while UNI likely would have done better without the travel headaches I don't think they would have won.
And for the record (hand grenade warning), I believe that Farley has done just as well in his 10 years of coaching I-AA as Tubby did in 20 (i.e. 1 NC game appearance).

GF, I'm starting to wonder if there's a trend here and you're not really smacking UNI for losing to Lehigh but smacking on Lehigh for being less of a program than Delaware. Why all of the angst toward Lehigh. They have an excellent program that is very successful with the resources that they have. Losing to them is not dishonorable. Nope, could've gone to Lehigh just as easily as UD. UD has a much better ChemE program (Lehigh's better than UD in some other engineering disciplines though) and besides, have you even been to Bethlehem in the winter? It makes depressing look good by comparison. I actually wavered between UD and W&M, and went with UD because of the major. I have no angst towards Lehigh - I actually root for them when they don't play UD. If you want, you can insert "random Patriot League team" in my mokery of UNI for losing to them - at home. That just shouldn't happen to a decent FCS team in the playoffs.UNI88 wrote:GF, I'm starting to wonder if there's a trend here and you're not really smacking UNI for losing to Lehigh but smacking on Lehigh for being less of a program than Delaware. No battle here G. UNI sucks. I jumped off that bus after the Richmond game in 2007. Start a thread about Farley if you want, but your thoughts on him have nothing to do with the fact that Keeler is a FBS troll and has never won a significant game or NC WITHOUT a FBS QB.GannonFan wrote:Eh, if he leaves, he leaves. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Re: All Things Keeler
It was utterly embarrassing. Cap'n and I almost made the trip, then we decided to stay home and finish our needlepoint projects for christmas. Woulda sucked.GannonFan wrote:Nope, could've gone to Lehigh just as easily as UD. That just shouldn't happen to a decent FCS team in the playoffs.UNI88 wrote:
GF, I'm starting to wonder if there's a trend here and you're not really smacking UNI for losing to Lehigh but smacking on Lehigh for being less of a program than Delaware. Why all of the angst toward Lehigh. They have an excellent program that is very successful with the resources that they have. Losing to them is not dishonorable. Did Lehigh turn you down for admission so you had to settle for getting your engineering degree from UD?

Re: All Things Keeler
Never knew the skins were so thin in Cedar Falls and hearts so unforgiving. Certainly not the Iowa of my youth. But if you wish to condemn one human over one event such as this I guess thats one way to deal with a couple of heart breaking losses. I always thought Iowans had more common sense than that; maybe all that nitrogen knifed into the soil each spring has reached the water table there.UNI88 wrote:KC might represent the university well overall but in that instance he did not.
He bleeds Blue Hen blue and would die before he embarrassed UD or the football coaching legacy and tradition he inherited. Remember he's only the 3rd UD Head Coach since 1951 and you can bet that factors into his decision making.
