You get to do that, dinner's on me. :thumb:

Frisco wasn't that bad a place to have a NC game. Nice area, OK stadium, good weather for January. Airfare, hotel and car rental all were reasonable. Upgrade the audio and video in the stadium, amp up the concessions and you've got a nice setup. But my guess is the area is too large and has too many other entertainment options for the locals to regularly attend the NC game and that will be the ultimate death of the game in Frisco. Lack of local attendance.

My thoughts exactly; didn't know this.

That's a deal breaker. I'm never going to Frisco. ;)

Evidently the city of Frisco hasn't yet had time to create a traffic planning department. The streets made absolutely no sense whatsoever. You'd have 8 lanes of two way traffic on an arterial and an adjacent two-lane one way thrown in just for kicks. We had a Garminn GPS and a Tom Tom, both of which frequently contradicted, and we still had trouble finding things.

Also, Frisco is located in a semi-dry county so bars close at midnight, and you have to drive to neighboring Plano to find a liquor store.

It's mostly a very new town and the area where many of the Hotels (Aloft, Embassy, etc) are located is very suburban and full of cookie cutter chain restaurants and bars. The area around the stadium is also new (I believe) but seemed to have more interesting establishments and a more unique feel.

The FCS Chamnpionship logo'd room keys and some signage improved the grades a little, and the stadium was excellent except for the no re-entry policy.

Any other thoughts?
You just described the state of Texas.

That wouldn't be news to many of us.

I'd go:

Town & Surrounding area: B (Chattanooga C-)
Frisco didn't have much in the way of entertainment or anything of cultural interest. There were enough really good restaurants nearby to satisfy almost anyone, unlike Chattanooga. Good food stops within a short walk of the stadium. Neighboring Plano had terrific food, drink & hotel options, though again, not a lot to do there aside from eat, sleep & shop. Dallas is close enough to Frisco/Plano. If you ever travel to Plano/Frisco, buy bottled water to drink. The tap water in the north Dallas suburbs is horrible, due to the algae problem in the water supply. It affects all of the ice in the drinks, etc., unless the water is filtered.

Tailgating: Solid A (Chattanooga: A-)
Nice parking lot facilities for tailgating & fairly flexible rules. No issues with open containers at all. The stadium folks should have passed out trash bags to those entering to assure themselves less clean up after the game. The post-game traffic nightmare was caused by VP Biden's exit and was not the responsibility of the stadium or the town. That said, the local po-po could have done a much better job of directing people out of the area after the game instead of standing around at the intersections with their thumbs up their bums.

Pre-Game Festivities: B- (Chattanooga B-)
Far more fun, interactive displays than what was present in Chattanooga. The food offered in Tailgate Town was pretty bad & pricey, but fortunately Rudy's & other restaurants were nearby. Inclement weather could have completely washed out all of the events in Tailgate Town. Chattanooga had many of their events under cover of the pavilion.

The stadium: A- (Chattanooga A-)
Finley & Pizza Hut Park are fairly even in this regard. Finley has a distinct advantage with much better, more prepared concessions. (PHP gets an F for concessions! They really fell down here for the lack of selection and unavailability of even basic offerings by halftime. Again, the ice made all of the fountain drinks undrinkable.) PHP was a newer, more attractive facility than Finley both inside and out.

I prefer the entire experience at Frisco over Chattanooga but I'd gladly go to both locations again.

Concessions an F, stands quite a bit further from the field, but an A-? :|

It's not the ice per se, it's the water. Plano/Frisco/Allen water is the pits. Whenever I visit my son, I drink bottled water.

Sounds like Frisco is a good option. I hope to have a reason to go there one year.
