Spring football underway
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – It's hard to believe it's been a little over five months since the Bryant University football team last hit the field, but with spring arriving here in New England, it's time to put the helmets and pads back on as the Bulldogs officially kicked off spring practice this week.
Eighth year coach Marty Fine and the Bulldogs return a strong cast of veterans including 76 letterwinners and 17 starters from last year's squad that went 7-4 in only the program's third season competing at the Division I (FCS) level.
Five new assistant coaches join Fine's staff at Bryant including quarterbacks coach Steve Brickey, defensive line coach Benyard Jones, defensive backs coach Ted Daisher, running backs coach Bob Jazwinski, and defensive backs coach and former NFL Pro Bowl selection Lance Schulters.
The team will continue practice for the next four weeks leading up to the annual Black & Gold Spring Game that will take place on Saturday, April 16 at Bulldog Stadium starting at noon.
