Subject: Blue Angels 24-25 May Cancellation
USNA Faculty & Staff and Brigade of Midshipmen,
The Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, The Blue Angels, have cancelled the
practice demonstration and air show scheduled for May 24 and 25 at the Naval
Academy. This cancellation is due to a safety stand down period imposed by
the team's commanding officer as a result of the team's last performance at
Lynchburg Regional Air Show, May 22 in Lynchburg, Va. During the training
stand-down the team will remain in Pensacola, FL for additional training and
air show demonstration practice. It has yet to be determined if the Blue
Angels will perform the flyover at the USNA graduation May 27, 2011.

Is it really that hard for some people to spot a Photoshopped picture?Bronco wrote:Not a FCS stadium but cool picture
Ya gotta keep in mind that you're dealing with a birther here, uof.uofmman1122 wrote:Is it really that hard for some people to spot a Photoshopped picture?Bronco wrote:Not a FCS stadium but cool picture
Cool picture.
Definitely not real, though.
I'd say the shadows from the planes' vertical stabilizers indicating sun at pilot's 11 o'clock and shadows from the stadium pressbox indicating sun at pilot's 2 o'clock would validate your take. Don't even really need any Photoshop expertise. Oddly, the shadow from the main pilot's oxygen line indicates 2 o'clock as well, so it would appear that perhaps the lower planes in formation were Shopped?uofmman1122 wrote:Is it really that hard for some people to spot a Photoshopped picture?Bronco wrote:Not a FCS stadium but cool picture

Ahh, definitely not saying one needs to know how to use Photoshop in order to spot something that's been altered in Photoshop.93henfan wrote:I'd say the shadows from the planes' vertical stabilizers indicating sun at pilot's 11 o'clock and shadows from the stadium pressbox indicating sun at pilot's 2 o'clock would validate your take. Other than the shadows, which might not be obvious to some people, what stood out to you? After all, this photo (if you do a google search) is on several Texas A&M related websites. It's fooled a LOT of people apparently.uofmman1122 wrote:Ahh, definitely not saying one needs to know how to use Photoshop in order to spot something that's been altered in Photoshop.93henfan wrote:I'd say the shadows from the planes' vertical stabilizers indicating sun at pilot's 11 o'clock and shadows from the stadium pressbox indicating sun at pilot's 2 o'clock would validate your take. This one is fairly obvious even if you've never used it.
Well for starters, that's the first fighter jet I've ever seen that doesn't have a top on it. lol93henfan wrote:Other than the shadows, what stood out to you?uofmman1122 wrote:Ahh, definitely not saying one needs to know how to use Photoshop in order to spot something that's been altered in Photoshop.

Yeah, I threw most of that into my edit about the same time you posted. Still, I wouldn't call it an obvious fake at first glance.uofmman1122 wrote:Well for starters, that's the first fighter jet I've ever seen that doesn't have a top on it. lol93henfan wrote:

Also, the fighter pilot's proportions are pretty messed up, which makes sense seeing as how the person wanted it to fit the picture. His head looks stretched flat, and you could get that kind of look with a specific lens, but the whole picture would take the same distorted look.
You also couldn't get that kind of detail in the background if the photo was focused on the pilot. You can't have more than one thing in focus in a photo, AFAIK.
This is what the inside of a cockpit looks like when a jet is in flight.
I'm sure there are some other obvious signs I could find if I sat down and looked, but those jumped out at me right away.

I'm pretty sure that pic was Shopped. I've never seen the word "Corbis" randomly appear in the sky.uofmman1122 wrote:Well for starters, that's the first fighter jet I've ever seen that doesn't have a top on it. lol93henfan wrote:

All good points. From that perspective of the pilot a really wide angle lens 10-14mm or fisheye would have to be used, which would distort the background some. The shopper did a bad job on the exhaust/air density (don't know the technical term for it), which is also lacking on the other jets. I would assume that the main jet was close to breaking the sound barrier and the others weren't? Maybe somebody with more military knowledge could correct me on that. The shadows as already mentioned are a dead giveaway, but also the sharpness. The stadium in the background is just as sharp as the pilot, which if shooting a small aperture (f/10 or smaller) would be realistic, however the jets inbetween are softer, which is impossible.93henfan wrote:Other than the shadows, which might not be obvious to some people, what stood out to you? There's other stuff. It doesn't look like there's a canopy, but how do I know if it's not just really fucking clean?![]()
Also, maybe a tail of the main plane should be showing from behind the pilot's helmet. I dunno.
Also also, was the main pilot's photo taken with a fisheye? That would be pretty telling.
Lots of little things, but nothing that would grab a layperson in this easy internet age and smack them in the face with fakeness.
I heard from expandspanos that it's actually burned into the surface of the earth as a part of Dick Cheney's new satellite laser that's he's going to use to subliminally program everyone using Google Earth by cutting brand names into the Earth's surface.93henfan wrote:I'm pretty sure that pic was Shopped. HAH! TAKE THAT!
I've seen a lot of flyovers and the loudest I can recall was a section of B-1s with burners on going over Dover Downs about ten years ago. They came in slow and low and then gunned it into a climb as they broke over the crowd. Infuckingsane, and I was stationed on a base with Harriers for a year and a half.slammer50111 wrote:Sometime ago I was at a Air Force Army game at the AFA my cousin was a cadet there at the time. If I remember right they had F15s, F16s, F117s, A10s, B52, B1, B2, and F111s. The Army also had some Apache and Blackhawks flyover. The F111s came over the lowest and at full afterburner felt like the whole staduim was shaking.
