Conference schedule Predicted Results
9/24 at Delaware - UD 40 ODU 20
10/1 UMass - UMass 28 ODU 10
10/8 at URI - URI 20 ODU 17
10/15 Towson - ODU 44 Towson 21
10/22 at Villanova - Nova 27 ODU 14
10/29 James Madison - JMU 17 ODU 7
11/5 Richmond - UR 28 - ODU 20
11/12 at William and Mary - W&M 44 - ODU 17
I would be shocked if we only had one game where we scored more than 20 points. I would add 7-10 points to at least 4 of those games. Probably won't change the outcome though.
From what I know about ODU and JMU ... I could see a close game, but not sure it would be that low scoring. JMU is gonna have an incredible defense, though, and I could see them having a very low PAA next year. All of my predictions right now are based on JMU having a great offense again, with Thorpe at the helm.
After 1st quarter:
JMU: 7
ODU: 3
At Halftime:
JMU: 17
ODU: 6
After 3rd quarter:
JMU: 31
ODU: 6
After 4th quarter:
JMU: 38
ODU 13
ODU could scare some people and have some talent but it really comes down to the fact that teams like JMU have had depth and experience built up and I can't see ODU, a still unexperienced and not-as-talent-laden team coming in and really playing it close with a team like JMU. I could see the homefield advantage keeping this game close in the first half, but after that I think JMU pulls away.

What exactly do you mean by 'again'?
Rodney Landers? 2007-2008 ... or Justin Rascatti for 2004-2006? Just because JMU has had two bad years of offense behind bad QB play doesn't mean they will never have a great offense again ...
I could very easily see any game being a possible blow out. While we barely lost to WM, a lot of people seem to forget that WM had missed three field goals, a costly interception at the beginning of the game when they had the ball and were driving, and another costly fumble that should have been a TD. WM left a ton of points off the scoreboard that night.

I think GF and myself were on the same wavelength here, as I thought you meant a great offense again like JMU had most recently, in 2010. I gotcha now. Although I'm convinced yet that Thorpe is our guy to take us to that level.
I'm thinking things are looking up for JMU just by having AN offense at all....doesn't even have to be great. Last year was about as bad as it could get...

And yet you beat Tech. Regardless of the circumstances, that easily qualifies as the FCS win of the year - what an amazing game...

Credit goes to that surprise pistol offense we pulled out for that game after being overly vanilla in our opener. We just had them on their heels...once that was on tape, the CAA was all over it....then, we couldn't go back to any 'normal' offense and were just completely lost and/or ineffective all year.
Edit: and, I'll say it...we had a pretty terrible QB.

Eh...., Delaware 09 was pretty bad. Not really sure what happened to Dudzik. After he filled in for Landers against Montana, he looked like the man for the job. When I saw him last August, and listened while the coaches discussed him, he was not the same player. But again, the JMU OL was also completely different and that may have had a lot to do with his performance. From what I've read/heard, I'm not real sure JMU has licked their OL problems going into 2011 either. As for ODU, I would wager on JMU by 7.

You mean Delaware '08 - the Delaware '09 team was actually pretty decent with Devlin at the helm, just happened to be one of the better years for the rest of the CAA.

Could not agree more. While many from WM will remember that game as the "after-the-whistle" bowl, the real story was that ODU's emotion carried us for three quarters. Meanwhile, WM left lots of points off the board due to mistakes and untimely turnovers. Late in the 4th, WM asserted its authority and showed that experience and depth do,indeed, matter.
Expect probably the worst ODU game of the year at Zable. WM will want to wash the funk off its hands from last year's game, and ODU will be dog tired running the CAA gauntlet.
Hope I am wrong, but see this one as a blowout for WM.
When Maxine Waters reaches the pearly gates, I hope St. Peter bitch-slaps her with a large, wet teabag

I hope you're wrong about the worst game possibly being at Zable, but unfortunately I think you're right.

I expect ODU to be sky high again. They'll be battle tested...playing their first away game at a state CAA school...last game of the season...anxious to show the 2010 game was not a fluke. Depending how the season goes for each team, it's not beyond imagining that the stakes could be high for both clubs.
Hope it doesn't come down to this again, but it won't surprise me if it does.

This could be spun a number of ways. One of the missed field goals came after we committed an unforced fumble inside our own 10 yard line (and I still wonder if his knee wasn't down with possession of the ball). The "costly interception" can be offset by the holding penalty that stalled our drive right before that. Then Nick Mayers' wide open drop of a sure touchdown pass would offset the Tribe's fumble in the end zone. The Tribe was clearly the superior team, but the game was close, both in reality and after spinning.
Alright its probably going to come on October 15th. Hopefully its our 4th but I'll be realistic.
Also, CAA Flagship you made good points we also left some points on the field that night too. Now that you mention it I do remember the sure TD pass that Nick Mayer's dropped. How he was actually able to get behind WM's defense was unbelievable...if only he could have caught the f-ing ball.
As for the WM game it all depends if both teams are healthy and are playing for something and how the confidence is for both teams going into that game.

You can see in the still you posted that #8 (FS Terrell Wells) is late to the party on that play. He was new to the safety position for us, and had trouble with angles, and zone responsibilities. He had previously been a starter at corner, and he returns to corner as a starter this year. By the end of the year he had lost the FS spot to Jake O'Connor, who will start there this year. Wells is a burner, so he may have been able to catch Mayer, but it sure looked like he was going to score.

Without a doubt he was going to score on that play, from what I remember watching it with the exception of wells there was nobody else within 10-15 yards of him. Also that explains a lot why he was able to get behind the defense. I'd say in this order our best receivers are 1. Gill, 2. Evans, 3. Antonio Vaughan, 4. Marquel Thomas, 5. Nick Mayers. Thats just off the top of my head.
