there's been guys who have been picked later then him or even undrafted that have gone onto have decent NFL careers so I think he has a decent shot.

If he actually gets a chance to get on the field, then absolutely yes.

Heck of a read. As much as I didn't like Armanti at college, I really do hope the best for him in the NFL. It'd be great to see him help the Panthers become good again.blueballs wrote:http://www.southernpigskin.com/SoCon/vi ... t-carolina

I believe he can contribute in several positive ways but I see real trouble ahead for the Cats, the most prominent being the new CBA if the rumors of a 'mandatory salary floor' are true.phoenixphanatic21 wrote:Heck of a read. The Richardson/Hurney/Morrison cabal tanked 2010, and this year they have the lowest base cash commitment in the league. That may seem like a good thing, but their history in signing FAs is really, really bad, and it's not like they can go out and sign Peyton Manning. So, what do they do?
They draft Cam Newton while wallowing at the bottom of the defensive rankings -- with key starters (Charles Johnson, James Anderson & Richard Marshall) as FAs, and Thomas Davis trying to come back from a 2nd torn ACL,
They 'tag' center Ryan Kalil giving him $10+ million/yr, guaranteed, and open the door to DeAngelo Williams to shop himself around.
To boost the NFLs worst passing offense they sign .... (wait for it) ... Jeremy Shockey, to compliment that awesome receiving corps of David Gettis & Brandon LaFell (and AE - who really needs to be in more of a Seneca Wallace 'Athlete' role).
BUT ... the actual 'ray of sunshine' for the Panthers in 2011 is looking to be Steve Smith. We could have a front-row seat to the greatest implosion EVAH in the history of professional football if his request for a trade is not met. And it gets even better if they keep him around.
Newton and Smith become good buddies. Newton enters the starting lineup in game #3 after the Panthers are humiliated in games #1 & #2 by Arizona and Green Bay. Over the course of 4 1/2 games Newton goes 'Young' (Vince, not Steve),is yanked; and Steve (Smith, not Young) has a meltdown in the 4th qtr against the Redskins.

Not really saying much since there have also been guys picked earlyer than that, that have been total failures.ODUalum11 wrote:there's been guys who have been picked later then him or even undrafted that have gone onto have decent NFL careers so I think he has a decent shot.
I hope AE gets a fair shot and takes advantage of it.
