Over 18,000. Not positive, but I believe that will put us at 18,200.

Your words not ours. Find a quote(a real quote not a JBB quote) where a Cat fan says they are building a dynasty.

New seating brings Stadium capacity to 17,000. In the past they have brought in temp bleachers for overflow for big games.

I don't know with the new configuration that it will allow for the grounds crew to bring in any more seating for the big games. It definitely gives the stadium an entirely different feeling. Hopefully when it is done, it should be considered a top 10 FCS stadium.

Really excited about new video scoreboard that will be installed. The local company that is designing it has done some work in Time Square New York with the latest technology.

When the entire renovation is complete (making the full "bowl"), Bobcat Stadium will be a top 5 in FCS.

Hey...be very careful with your words. The Bobcats will be very good this year. And if ASH can keep them from losing a couple of games in the middle of their slate they will be sittin' pretty come playoff time.

Sorry, didn't realize you were so sensitive.

Winning games has many effects that help the program, one of which is attracting more casual fans. Since cat fans have often complained over the years about the griz fans and that many are bandwagon fans, I thought I could make a (bad) joke about the cats getting some bandwagon fans.

I'm not claiming any dynasty, but I am optimistic about the coming season, even though I think the griz will be better than last year, along with several other Big Sky teams. And of course, EWU being the reigning national champions....

Anyway, I guess now I use the standard griz line...At least we weren't home for Thanksgiving because our team didn't make the playoffs

I think the previous post had the capacity correct (or closer). The low-ball estimate for previous capacity was 13,500 - though I've seen estimates up to 15,000. All the campaign materials indicated a loss of 2,000 seats from removing the old bleachers; the new EZ capacity is 7,200 for a gain of 5,000 seats. Total new capacity of about 18,500. This is not including temp seating, which someone pointed out before that we lost some of the temp seating space, but can't be much, since most were on the old student sideline and the north endzone, which mostly weren't touched. We did lose the SRO areas in the south EZ corners though. All-in-all, I'd be absolutely shocked if for at least one game this year we don't top 20,000. Assuming the season goes to plan, I'd expect that at least for Cat/Griz in November.

KK's numbers are correct, I dont know where bp got the 17,000 number but it is way too low. Also we will gain at least enough for 1 0r 2 of the small temp bleachers because they can be placed in front of the old visitor locker-room access area.

Hopefully we can fill the stadium once it is done. Definitely like the fact that the seating is built almost on top of the stadium and will improve sight lines.

Copied these from FAQ section regarding EZ program for the stadium:

The first phase of the project will add 4,500 seats. The current end zone bleachers seat 2,000, so we will have a net gain of 2,500 seats. If we are able to raise the $10 million necessary to completely bowl-in the south end zone, we will have an additional 2,700 seats, for a net gain exceeding 5,200 seats.

Current sell-outs have been around 15,000, but that includes temporary bleachers and standing-room-only (SRO) tickets. The new grandstand seating will eliminate some of the areas where the temporary bleachers are and where fans with SRO tickets have traditionally watched the game. So, the new capacity total will exceed 17,000.

The first phase was for 4500 seats, if you remember we "went for 2" (raised 10 million instead of 8) which is phase 2 and that added the corners (2700 seats) into the project, gaining 5200 net seats

Current capacity is in the mid to high 13,000's without SRO or the temp bleachers. (SRO and temp add about 1200 to capacity in old configuration)
13,000 + 5,200 = 18,200 so yeah it is over 17,000 ;)

The newspaper said over 17,000 the day after I posted 18,200, so it's kinda confusing. During the fundraising, I'm sure they were talking about over 18,000 seats, and cats2506's math is what I remember. I'm sure the previous capacity was around 13,500. I'm also sure I remember we averaged well over 14,000 attendance. I suppose it's possible that in final design a few seats were lost.

It won't be long and we'll know what they announce at the first home game. Hopefully we'll sell out - it's a pretty big increase in seating, percentage wise, and the increase is largely in the more expensive seats. The students gained a bunch of seats and moved to the new end-zone seating, opening up seating between the 40's or so on what used to be the student side.

I think those FAQ's were written when president WC announced that "failure was not an option" and that were were going for this project. I don't think they have been updated since the final design has been complete so I am sure its a little up in the air what the final capacity will be.

Make sure you let us know how the new sound system sounds. Aren't they testing that today and tomorrow?

Testing is next week. I think it is just Tone sounds and what have you, but I was told it is the same system they have at Arizona State.
