The Anti Bison sentiment is the only thing keeping the Lafayette @ NDSU BISON "Spotlight Game" from getting the most votes. As it is, and as pointed out earlier in the summer thread, the game is of national significance.

JaBBer, your act wouldn't be nearly as boring and tedious as it has become if you had an understanding of the game. Sadly, your over-the-top buffoon act, intended to disguise your ignorance about football, now only serves to accentuate the feebleness of your football IQ. :ohno:

It's a shame and embarrassment to FCS having childish buffoons like JBB post on a national football forum. He's such a simpleton that he can't accept that the game his team is playing in isn't even close to being relevant on a national stage, as evidenced by a vote of educated football fans from across the country, and as such must resort to petty name-calling. What a poor soul. Too bad he can't be like UND fans, who show the utmost respect and character, not to mention intelligence when it comes to discussing FCS football. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

It's very easy to go with southeast bias in favor of Furman vs. Coastal, but I think both teams really know what they need to do to get into the Playoffs. They'll have plenty of competitive opportunities. SUU is always out there with something to prove.
:? Are they trying to prove they can win more than 6 games in a season for the first time in over a decade (that's as far back as I can find on ncaa.com)?
Since moving to I-AA in 1993, SUU has won more than 6 games in a season twice: in 1999 (8-3) and 2000 (7-4).
however in both seasons, they played a D2 team, an NAIA team, and Cal-Davis (which I think was still a D2 that year, unless my sources are wrong).

Now if you clowns would get a grip on your sorry selves you might give some of the folks a chance to actually talk about the FCC Game of the Week. At last look Lafayette @ NDSU BISON was among the top picks. Truly a spotlight game.

SUU/SDSU would be my second pick.

Not only that, but they have something to prove because people like bandy and others afflicted with severe ECB dismiss SUU as having any potential because 1) They're from the West, and 2) Because they were winless a few years ago. They have a legit team this year, and barely lost to EWU last year, which would have made them playoff eligible.

Jack-Bunnies and the storm-chickens, two teams that matured too late last season who are looking to do good things this season. I think that's the obvious choice. :thumb:

SUU needs the at large so the expanded field helps them. They have a nice looking OOC schedule too. BSC and midwest with the strongest FCS challenge coming from UNI. They have been building and look to have arrived.

SDSU has questions and this is a great first game test. Nice to have it at home.

Although it is an interesting match up and may or may not have any playoff implications neither team is nationally ranked so it has no national implications. Its an interesting under-card with a back-story of the strong finish and the high hopes.

The NDSU game on the other hand pits the #11 team in the country against an interesting challenger that can be compared to UNI or Lehigh. Attendance will also be among the highest in the nation for the FCS. This is the type of thing that elevates a game to game of the week status.

My vote is for the Morgan State vs Towson U game on Sept 3. Battle of Baltimore. I beleive Towson wins this game 34-17.

I think Furman-CCU will be a pretty good game.

However, I would submit The Citadel vs. Jacksonville.

JU is the strong favorite to win the Pioneer again this year (they were 10-1 last year with their only loss being a butt kicking by App State). They are loaded with seniors this year, and the Jax newspaper is pretty much saying it's playoffs or bust this year for the Dolphins. JU will have to win this one to have a chance. They also play CSU, but a win over ANY SoCon team will be the shot in the arm that they need.

On the flip side of that, The Citadel looks good in practice. We're going to be a much better team this year. Our defense is solid, and our offense will not be providing so many short fields to the opposition. Coach Higgins said in the presser yesterday that JU would be about in the middle of the pack in the SoCon, and they mostly resemble Elon with their spread. If we are able to take them down, it might well mean that the preseason picks for the bottom half of the SoCon may well be off.
